House GOP lawmakers voiced frustration during a private call Monday with Republican leadership and top Capitol security officials over programs designed to protect members outside Washington, according to four people on the call. Republican lawmakers and spouses raised alarm over the patchwork of government-funded member security programs, said the people granted anonymity to describe the conversation.
House GOP and Democratic leaders hosted separate calls Monday with their members and officials from the U.S. Capitol Police and the House Sergeant-at-Arms, prompted by the killing of Charlie Kirk earlier this month.
On Mondays GOP call, rank-and-file Republicans singled out rules that cover security cameras but not security gates, which are considered capital improvements to their homes.
After being told by an official on the call that permitting funding for gates would require new legislation, one GOP lawmaker responded that he wanted to read the written opinion of the person who made that determination. It was unclear which GOP lawmaker made the request.

This is the quintessential self-created GOP mess.
They encouraged it. They supported it. They nurtured it. They magnify it every time they open their mouths. And they fund and continue to promote their lunatics. And then they wonder what hell hath they wrought. It took 8 months for some of them to blink and wake up out of their stupor.
