Vermont Gov. Phil Scott (R) called on a state senator to resign after a Politico report on a Young Republican group chat. “The hateful statements made in this group chat are disgusting and unacceptable. The vile, racist, bigoted, and antisemitic dialogue that has been reported is deeply disturbing. There is simply no excuse for it,” Scott said in a Tuesday statement.

“Those involved should resign from their roles immediately and leave the Republican party – including Vermont State Senator Sam Douglass,” he added. According to the Politico report, Vermont state Sen. Samuel Douglass (R) was one of the members of a Telegram chat that featured racist, antisemitic and violent discussions.

When one chat member discussed a friend of other chatters being in a relationship with “this very obese Indian woman for a period of time,” another replied, calling the woman “not Indian,” according to the Politico report. “She just didn’t bathe often,” Douglass responded, according to Politico.

The messages obtained by Politico spanned for more than seven months and were part of a chat among Young Republican leaders in New York, Kansas, Arizona and Vermont.

door neighbor in a middle class neighborhood was the county D.A. Pete
Safer and his brother was the governor
Ray Shafer and to this day the finest man I
have ever known and for some reason he
liked to talk to me as I was fishing in the little lake behind our houses. And he was a Republican too. What that party has fallen to is shameful.

common thing and nobody would think of bothering him and BTW all the men in the neighborhood were WW II or Korean war vets too. Ray was a WW II hero top of his class @ Alleghany, top of his class @ Yale
Law, supported civil rights, the environment unions, education. Infrastructure, and the legalization of Marijuana too. His favorite thing was to play ball with the kids in the neighborhood.

He never had security with him but after RFK was murdered he had a very large man with him who Ray made play ball with
