Rand Paul Says 20 GOP Senators Are 'Grumbling' Over Trump Policy -- But 'Don't Have the Guts' to Criticize the President

In an interview released late on Thursday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) told Politico’s Dasha Burns that 20 GOP senators are “grumbling” over President Donald Trump’s trade war with China, but that they “don’t have the guts” to criticize the president.

“There are probably eight farm states — maybe there are ten farm states. That means 20 senators have always believed in free trade,” Paul said, “and they’re all grumbling, and they’re all like, ‘China’s not buying any of our soybeans this year!'”

Trump’s aggressive tariff strategy has hit U.S. farmers particularly hard, with China essentially cutting off U.S. soybean purchases outright. In September 2025, Beijing imported no U.S. soybeans, marking the first time since 2018 that the figure hit zero.

“The tariff war with China has led to this,” continued Paul on Burns’ The Conversation. “They don’t have the guts, because it’s their president, and frankly, they’re afraid. They’re afraid that he will do to them what he’s trying to do to me. That’s too bad.”

And I like what Maghan Markle had to say about it. Feminism is about fairness, of course we’ve given up the idea of fairness in this country too.

So many strong women leading the fight! Middle daughter of a divorced working mother here. We saw it all! We did the work and expected equality. Today we are one step away from losing our right to vote. Unbelievable! The ‘boys’ don’t like fair…..

And if that time in the 50s,, everything was screwed up, but they did still a sense of fairness in us. I always rebelled against the gender roles. If my brother was allowed to do it, I should be allowed to do it. That’s how I grew up. It’s really bad now. For younger women

20 means almost 70 including Democrats minus Lord Fauntleroy. Break the dam and you're all notable in history. Acquiesce as usual and you'll continue to be known as useless cowards. There is a choice. Remember, only the first punch hurts then the adrenaline takes over.
I promise, it will feel good to stand up to the bully.

Because they have seen the "No Kings " . What makes them think that they will keep their jobs if they don't like what he's doing. It doesn't make sense to me. Don't they know they'll lose everything if they don't like what he's saying and doing. It isn't just democrats, it's republican voters too.

I just don't get it......

that was my first thought.

If he is upset then he should lead the pack. They will follow once you take it to them and survive.

Someone over there has to be mad as hell that they are nothing but a pack of followers now. They must have been and maybe still are full of thoughts but they are just sitting there with their thoughts in their scaredy cat heads.

Someone has to start it. If they never thought of that they are dumber than we know. *possible*

This was never supposed to be one person and you just sit and nod. Get up and do something. Chicken shits...still used in Kansas

Occasionally, he does get something right. From the latest:

Dr. Paul Calls for a Restoration of Constitutional War Powers
I spoke on the Senate floor in support of a War Powers Resolution to end unauthorized U.S. military hostilities in Venezuela. The Constitution—not the President—decides when America goes to war. For decades, presidents from both parties have ignored this fundamental principle, dragging us into conflicts without a public debate or a vote.
If this administration wants to use military power, it must seek authorization from Congress. This vote is about restoring the separation of powers and making sure the American people have a voice before we enter another foreign war.

Because he’s been only nominally mouthy just this round and never before now. Maybe he’s a sign of things to come but he is nothing like a symbol of high principle and courage.

Murkowski said the same thing and then folded on the big ugly bill.

It’s a party of fascists, grifters and cheap whores (no offense to actual prostitutes; they’re just trying to make a buck). I’m sure Rand can be bought off fairly easily.
