Rep. Cecil Brockman resigns after numerous sex charges, Democratic House leader says

Rep. Cecil Brockman has resigned, according to House Democratic leader Robert Reives.

Brockman was arrested and charged with several sex crimes involving a minor on Oct. 8.

Brockman served as a state representative for Guilford County under District 60, which covers High Point and other parts of the county. He first entered office in 2015 after being elected in 2014. In his most recent re-election bid, he secured about 63% of the vote.

I am glad that Rep. Brockman has voluntarily resigned from the General Assembly. The allegations against him are serious and made it impossible for him to adequately represent his constituents. I look forward to the Guilford County Democrats appointing his successor.
