Los Angeles Dodgers win World Series, defeat Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 classic

Source: CBS News

In a winner-take-all Game 7 for the ages, the Los Angeles Dodgers bested the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in an 11-inning classic in the early morning hours Sunday to become back-to-back World Series champions.

Down 4-3 with one out at the top of the ninth inning, Dodgers shortstop Miguel Rojas hit a solo home run to tie it up at four runs apiece and send the game into extra innings.

Then, at the top of the 11th inning, Dodgers catcher Will Smith hit a solo home run to seal the extraordinary comeback victory.

The Dodgers became the first repeat champion since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees, and in the process denied the Blue Jays their first title since 1993.

Making plays wins. Clutch hitting wins, in baseball. You think Miguel Rojas makes tens of millions? or Pages?

But you know who makes tens of millions and excelled? Yamamoto. Pitched last night and closed out the game tonight. Winning pitcher of 3 of the 4 games including a complete game.

Cry harder.

It was an amazing series...not crying about anything. However, 1.2B for 4 pitchers is too much. Money will destroy sports if we are not careful...all sports, including college.

It’s good to remember that losing in a series like this doesn’t diminish greatness. It’s cold comfort, but true.

i was hoping that the winners would be invited to the prime minister's for a get together, bit maybe the dodgers will shun a visit to the hole on penn ave.

Japan's megastar Shohei Otani, who is a national hero here in Japan, was like a schoolboy when Trump shook his hand. Although I'm impressed that a Japanese player has made it so big in the majors, I was still rooting for the Blue Jays.

i 1/2 expect krasnov to start deporting them.

yamamoto had a great series as well, and dodger superstar freddy freeman is canadian.

just checked for yamamoto's stats. he was the series mvp

Yamamoto capped one of the best pitching performances in World Series history with 2⅔ scoreless innings to end the clincher. That came one day after throwing 96 pitches in the Dodgers' Game 6 win, and he also pitched a four-hitter in Game 2 to help Los Angeles repeat as champions in a fantastic Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Cubs & Bears from my time in Chicago. I do follow the D-Backs & Cardinals though. Favorite team is anyone playing the Packers and anyone playing Milwaukie.

Four months until spring training...but the Arizona Fall League is ongoing and tickets are only $12 -$14. It's rookie baseball but it's something.

Dad had a show called "Dodger Talk", and helped Tommy Lasorda get a certain managerial job. Cousin Carl played right field for the Brooklyn Dodgers, and would bring his kids over to play with us, when they moved to L.A. So as you can imagine, I am a bit biased, but........

That was the best World Series I have ever seen.

Thanks Bums! And a tip of the blue hat to Danny Kaye!
