'I'm angry with the president': Florida Trump voters reeling from 'cruel and bad' policies

Source: Raw Story

November 4, 2025 12:17PM ET

Latino voters who helped seal Florida's status as a Republican stronghold are now reeling with anger, bewilderment and guilt over their support of President Donald Trump, according to El País. "Trump’s manifesto of economic prosperity and law and order clashes with a reality that continues to punish disadvantaged families," writes Abel Fernández.

Nearly a year into Trump's first term and the Hispanic community, he writes, is deeply divided. "Frustration and regret have grown among those most affected by the rising cost of living, cuts to social programs and an immigration agenda that has torn the Hispanic community apart," Fernández writes.

The disenchantment, he says, is palpable across the state, with a list of complaints including "the disruption to government aid as a result of the government shutdown, the unstoppable rise in the cost of rest, and persistent inflation."

The loss of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, in particular, are affecting those in Miami-Dade County "especially hard," Fernández explains, where "the shift of the Latino vote from Democrat to Republican was key to Trump’s victory last year."

Here is the problem in a nutshell further in the article and it is something that Democrats deal with Presidential election cycle after Presidential election cycle, where the GOP will crash the economy, Democrats come in and spend much of their terms in office FIXING it, then come the next cycle and a GOPer wins, they were handed a "roaring economy" and many of the clueless believe it was the GOPer who got it there. I.e., -

“The last time Trump was president, I made more money than ever in my career. Prices were low. Gasoline was cheap. I remember going on vacation. Interest rates were lower. Now everything is out of control. I can’t even afford the air we breathe. Now I see that I made the wrong decision,” she says.

Lady - the last time 45 was in office, OBAMA handed him one of the best economies and job growth in modern times after getting the country out of the worst financial collapse since the Great Depression. 45 didn't do that. He managed to kill over 1 million people with the mishandling of a global pandemic, ushering in one of the greatest "shocks" to the economy in recent memory after 4 years in office. This time, it took him just a few months to get there again.

I could forgive them if they voted for Trump in 2016. A lot of people didn't really know that much about Trump other than from The Apprentice, though it wouldn't have taken too much effort to find out what a truly horrible man he was.

But geez, after one nightmarish term, there is no excuse for anyone voting for him again. Meanwhile, the Biden administration dealt effectively with the pandemic and passed more progressive legislation than I've seen since LBJ. People were finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel and yet 77 million people decided to rehire Trump, as well as his many bootlickers in congress.

Nope, damn near impossible to have any sympathy for them at all. Democracy has some very serious flaws, especially when people treat elections like they're voting for a contestant on American Idol. Maybe as a country, we don't deserve democracy.

MEN are too emotional to trust with any political office. The testosterone in their system makes them prone to immediately jump on the anger and violence bandwagon.

Throw back at them the very reason why they say women can't serve... that we're too emotional because of our hormones. And for good measure, throw in a "male menopause" meme, too!

You were told, you saw his first term, but your machismo was such that the thought of voting for a competent, caring Woman of colour scared the bejeezus out of you and you decided a criminal who is a male was a "better" choice, simply because he is a male. Well, you got it. Too bad you aren't happy with your choice.

Seriously? Bewildered and angry? Can’t blame Cantaloupe Caligula for that. It’s not his fault YOU DIDN’T FUCKING PAY ATTENTION! He told you assclowns exactly what he was going to do. You played footsie with him because you hated the Black/Indian woman and hated the idea of her being President even more.

You fucked around, so you found out. Fuck off.

With the most sincere feelings of “Haha!”, I bid you adieu et au revoir. May you have the day (and pResident) you deserve.

They bought the idea that trump, in 2017, had created a great economy in one week, instead of understanding that the good economy was what Obama had created and left behind. They failed to see how trump destroyed the great economy he inherited.

I don't think they will learn, unfortunately. Latinos really suffer from "Stockholm Syndrome", they have to know republicans hate them, but they insist on wanting to be republican...How else can it be explained?

Is that what Trump promised?

And some believed him?

Selective hearing at work there. Majorly.

You ignore politics, you ignore Trump's history and the bad things he says and does, but you hear what you want to hear, "economic prosperity and law and order", and you say 'You got my vote!'

And then you go back to your semi conscious slumber state, and wait for the "economic prosperity and law and order" to happen.

Then you get impatient and start bitching about the non-delivery of the Promised Land.

What they heard:
"Economic prosperity and law and order" = prosperity for me, heavy handed law and order for those who get in my way.

Low information voters - the possible Death of Democracy?
