Tesla Shareholders Decide Elon Musk Should Be the World's First Trillionaire

Source: Gizmodo

On Thursday, Tesla shareholders approved CEO Elon Musk’s pay package worth as much as $878 billion, an outcome that was widely expected. Musk received 75% approval in the vote. The compensation plan will hand over that wealth in 12 tranches of stock, provided various milestones are hit over the next decade.

The vote occurred at Tesla’s annual shareholder’s meeting in Austin, Texas, and the first milestone that would unlock one of Musk’s 12 payments would be Tesla reaching a market cap of $2 trillion. The company’s market cap currently sits at $1.4 trillion.

Other metrics include delivering 20 million Tesla vehicles, as well as deploying 1 million robotaxis and 1 million humanoid robots. Musk currently holds about 13% of Tesla shares and, if all of the milestones are hit, he would increase his stake to about 25%, according to CNBC.

Musk, the wealthiest man in the world, insisted in the lead up to the vote that he deserved the pay package and it wasn’t actually about the money. The billionaire claimed that he needed the vote from shareholders to have influence over Tesla’s “robot army,” trying to suggest that his developments with the Optimus robot could be dangerous if they fall into the wrong hands. Musk has made similar claims about AI potentially destroying humanity if not guided correctly against what he calls the “woke mind virus.”

If/when Democrats get back in control, they need to take a look at all his government contracts. The Trump toadies are putting us over a barrel with space contracts controlled by the whims of one dishonest man whose personal ambitions to colonize Mars do not necessarily support what the US needs. For example, the space station is nearing the end of its life. Where is the analysis of the research that will be lost when it is decommissioned? Do we need a replacement? What now is the purpose of space exploration? It’s cheaper to take care of the Earth we have than to spend billions or trillions on reaching some far-away planet that may or may not support life.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2025/11/06/elon-musk-tesla-pay-package/

Tesla shareholders overwhelmingly approved a $1 trillion pay package intended to keep Elon Musk in charge of the company for the next decade, as the automaker enters a new phase defined by bets on artificial intelligence.

The measure had met unusual resistance from investors, advisers and activists who argued it was excessive or unmerited, pointing to Musk’s recent track record of work outside Tesla — including his time overseeing the U.S. DOGE Service — some of which has hurt the brand. But Musk also presided over historic gains, turning the company into the world’s most valuable automaker and becoming the world’s richest person......

The pay package heralds a new era of executive compensation even in an already hyperinflated world of CEO pay. Its only close comparison is Musk’s prior deal with Tesla, a $56 billion pay package that is before the Delaware Supreme Court after another Delaware judge invalidated it, citing an allegedly unfair process.

Rohan Williamson, professor of finance at Georgetown University, said Musk’s argument for commanding such a vast paycheck is largely unique to Tesla — though similar deals may become more prevalent in an age of founder-led start-ups.

No matter how you slice it, it’s a lot,” Williamson said. But the deal seeks to emphasize Musk’s central — even singular — role in the company’s rise, and its fate going forward.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see the stock tank over the next year.

In primitive, e.g., hunter-gatherer societies, characteristics such as hunting prowess, ability to defend the group, experience and wisdom in knowing when to move and find resources or care for the sick, were all measures that gave members of a group status and prestige.

In capitalist society, money has replaced those qualities as a marker of prestige. People like Musk and Trump have none of the qualities that gave humans status in pre-capitalist societies. They are only good at amassing money, by whatever means they can. So the need for money by these people is endless.

No, Tesla has never paid a cash dividend to its common stock shareholders and has stated it does not plan to in the foreseeable future. The company intends to retain all future earnings to reinvest in its growth.

So how does paying Musk a trillion dollars "reinvest in its growth"???

Fucking stupid! They might have paid him a half-trillion,
and asked for a half-trillion dividend....

10 years ago, before he went crazy, that goal might have been possible. But Tesla, once at the forefront of EV technology has fallen behind, and nowadays its cars are rather dull and stodgy compared to others.

Also as part of the package he has to deploy 1 million humanoid robots. He's still going to make a ton of money, but he's not gonna get his trillion.

Tesla is foundering for a variety of reasons—most of them related to the psychotic megalomania of Elon Musk. But quite a few of them are related to product quality and design.

Tesla market position in Asia and Europe has fallen off a cliff and sales have plummeted. Sales have also fallen sharply here in the US.

Long term prospects are grim.

So, sure give the man a pay package that can only be described as lunatic.
