Top Ukrainian ministers submit their resignations as the country is rocked by a corruption scandal

Source: AP News

...a major embezzlement and kickbacks scandal involving the state-owned nuclear power company has put top officials under scrutiny.

It’s fast becoming one of the most significant government crises since Moscow’s full-scale invasion, with media reports implicating a close associate of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Responding to a public backlash, Zelenskyy called for the dismissal of his justice and energy ministers amid the investigation. They later submitted their resignations, the prime minister said.

...

"Internally this scandal will be used to undermine unity and stability within the country. Externally, our enemies will use it as an argument to stop aid to Ukraine,” said Oleksandr Merezhko, a lawmaker with Zelenskyy’s party. “It looks really bad in the eyes of our European and American partners." ...

if it isn't being reported by some ultra right wing website......AP is a dubious source these days, for any news.........

I could see why both Republicans and Putin would love to start this as a rumor, esp stating that Zellinski is involved.....

Fox News will pick it up regardless......

I believe President Zalenskyy has had to fire or move some people around in the last couple of years…corruption can go down anywhere at any time, especially in the chaos of war, right?

So, we’ll wait for better sources on this report (if there are any!?) -

Many thanks!

Ukraine's energy and justice ministers have resigned in the wake of a major investigation into corruption in the country's energy sector.

President Volodymyr Zelensky called for Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk and Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko's removal on Wednesday.

On Monday anti-corruption bodies accused several people of orchestrating a embezzlement scheme in the energy sector worth about $100m (£76m), including at the national nuclear operator Enerhoatom.

Some of those implicated in the scandal are - or have been - close associates of Zelensky's.
