Nov 13 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is preparing broad exemptions to certain tariffs in an effort to ease elevated food prices, the New York Times reported on Thursday, citing three people briefed on the actions.

The change would apply to certain reciprocal tariffs Trump announced in April, including on products coming from countries that have not struck trade deals with the administration, according to the Times.

There are exceptions like goods shut out: 100% tariffs on Italian pasta for example. Nevertheless, Walmart will sit on some nice fat profits if they can. Lower prices always was always a scam.

Hell no, they'll just reap more profits for their private equity shareholders. Nixon, at least, tried to implement price controls.

Yeah I'll bet Dillon's (high prices on everything) will just suddenly have a fire sale at the store because of a bumbling idiot like Trump spewing out some nonsense.

Trump promised to lower grocery prices. His tariffs did just the opposite. So now he is looking more closely at the damage he has caused and wants to go back to pre tariff prices. So in a nutshell, he is doing nothing to lower the price of groceries.

Lets it fester for a while, then rides in the save the day by reversing whatever lame and destructive policy of his caused it in the first place.

Then he brags about fixing it and his minions cheer.
