It is an issue.
I have a passport and have had one basically since adulthood. But I’ve tried to get a “real ID” both of the last times my driver’s license expired and I can’t get one because I don’t have the required documents with the required addresses. When you move all the time, including cross country and internationally, it makes it difficult to show arbitrary things like utility bills in your name with the address you need the driver’s license for. Why is it harder to get a REAL ID than a passport? Ever consider that?
