The governors of Oklahoma and Arkansas will send a combined 260 National Guardsmen to Washington, D.C., after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth last week vowed to bring 500 more to the District after the shooting of two Guard members.

A U.S. Army spokesperson said the number of Guardsmen in the city will begin to tick up over the next several weeks as they arrive, but there's no target date or deadline to reach 500 new troops.

Oklahoma will send approximately 160 Guardsmen and Arkansas will send roughly 100, joining the 2,200 Guardsmen from eight other states and the District of Columbia.

Pentagon press secretary Kingsley Wilson said Tuesday that all 2,200 Guard members in D.C. are now armed and that the additional 500 will also be armed. She confirmed that the Guard in D.C. is now conducting joint patrols with D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department.

The governors of Oklahoma and Arkansas are chickenshit cowards with no concept of right and wrong or caring for the welfare of their own guardsmen.

Trump snubbed her when she asked for disaster relief for the state. Who knows, this might be one way to finally get that disaster relief

when Clinton and Bumpers and Pryor and Hammerschmidt were the leaders of Arkansas. Remember the good old days. I remember Fayetteville with a population of 26,000 and Bentonville was a long trip away. I remember Frank Broyles and Bill Montgomery and George’s Drive Inn on Highway 71. Oh My Good Ole Days.

Hammerschmidt was a Republican but compared to the yahoos today he was a flaming liberal.

I met all the Democrats at one time or another. Hammerschmidt was an institution, and the only close race he had was against a 28-year-old upstart named Bill Clinton. That was the same year that Bumpers primaried Senator Fulbright, and Richard Nixon resigned.

The trip from Fayette Nam to Bentonville was pretty arduous if you took 71 through Springdale, and it would take you past a couple of drive-in movie theaters-- the Grove, and Twin Cities. You could also take 112 up to B'ville, and that would take you past the turnoff to Suzie Wong's, which had a kind of reputation among high schoolers, although I never found out exactly what it was There was also a drive-in around there as well, but I don't remember the name.

Frank Broyles was also an institution, and if I'm not mistaken, Bill Montgomery was the UofA quarterback during The Game of the Century, which Richard Nixon attended. Quite a heartbreaker for Arkansas fans
