Trump will talk prices at Pennsylvania stop as ally says he has few quick-fix options

Source: Roll Call

President Donald Trump will address high prices and a stubborn economy when he stops by a Pennsylvania swing county Tuesday to sell his fiscal message to the battleground state. But one key Senate ally acknowledged there’s little he can do with the stroke of a pen or single legislative plan on the issue of affordability.

Democratic lawmakers see the topic as a strategic opportunity heading into next year’s midterms, coming on the heels of key wins in the November off-year elections and an overperformance in a recent House special election in a deep-red Tennessee district. Several Democratic senators expressed surprise last week over Trump seeming to dismiss voters’ concerns about high prices by calling the issue a “hoax.”

“Just about everything is down,” the president said on Dec. 3 during an Oval Office event. “They use the word affordability. It’s a Democrat hoax. They’re the ones that drove the prices up.”

But polling shows voters disagree. According to a RealClearPolitics average of recent surveys, 62.2 percent disapproved of Trump’s handling of inflation, while 34.8 approved.

Heard on the radio this morning that he was going to go to the Poconos to the site of the old "Mt. Airy Lodge", now with a new hotel named "Mt. Airy Casino and Resort" (after they tore down the old facility after it closed and built a new one with a casino when PA legalized gambling). Before the original closed, the hotel used to be known for the heart-shaped beds and tubs -

Dems implement if we win the midterm and 2028? If Dems don't have a plan and things remain with high prices and diminished affordability, we will be in the same place as the Repubs are in now.

Besides lowering tariffs I don't see any plans. We need to offer something besides, we are not Trump.

and inflation had dropped to something like 2.3% - 2.5% (headline figure, Fed target is 2%).

As soon as 45 got in and implemented "global" tariffs, here comes the inflation. He's been trying to cherry-pick lowering some tariffs on some countries and on some products and exempting some products, but it's too late.

Our "plan" should be to go through and repeal every one of his ridiculous tariffs and implement what was already in place before he was elected. And we need to re-do the trade agreements with Canada and Mexico, since they are our biggest trading partners (along with China).

Remember that everything that Biden did was to recover from the calamity of BOTH a pandemic AND an economic calamity that were BOTH caused by 45 in his first term.

The one big wrinkle vs 2021, is the unfettered and unhinged infestation of "AI" into every aspect of people's lives, literally en masse, and out of nowhere, and there needs to be some kind of contingency to deal with the aftermath of that.

This is great news because:

1) We will see just how small of venues hes speaking at and how small the crowds will be.
2) Mabye the crowd will boo him. After all he will be lying his ass off.
3) The demands on this tour may wind up putting him to sleep (for good)
4) Everytime (not sometimes) he speaks his poll numbers drop.
5) More people will see how incompetent and out of touch he is.

And if / when you find the ads, report them to the media, and the public.

That's what Trump always does - trucks in paid supporters to make himself look good.

time he spends talking about "prices"?

My bet is under 2 minutes. The rest of the time will be spent on self-aggrandizing and all the greivences he has since 2020.

I wonder which local Rs will show up on stage with him?

This from a story in the Beaver County Times via USA Today.

Yet for much of the one-hour and 35-minute speech, Trump meandered away from the economic-themed speech that was purpose of the rally.
