Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed by their son, Nick, multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, at about 3:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was called to a home to provide medical aid, the LAFD told PEOPLE. Upon arrival, they found a man, 78, and a woman, 68, dead. Sources confirm the victims were Rob and Michele.
Rob is a director, producer and actor whose career includes some of Hollywood’s most beloved films — from his 1984 directorial debut, This Is Spinal Tap, to Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Misery (1990) and A Few Good Men (1992).
He first became famous for his role as Mike on the Norman Lear TV sitcom All in the Family.

Sad if Rob was involved in the story. I’ve worked two movies with him and I’m thoroughly sick of recent events.
I pray they find who did this. Quickly. I hope it was not politically motivated, but I would not be surprised in the least. I am already sad, and now I am even more sad. How horrible. 
but I really hope they were not murdered by their own son.
What a tragedy.
It makes me not want to be around him, but I am all he's got. Today, I brought him $200 worth of groceries. I feared what kind of brother I would see when he opened the door. Fortunately it was the one I remembered as a kid...kind, thankful, and wrecked with anxiety. But alcohol or drugs can turn that anxiety very quickly into something very dark.
If it can happen to the Reiners, it can happen to anyone. They were such good people.
Apparently the family did all they knew how to do to help Nick, but sometimes no matter what you do it isn't right or enough. Take care of your brother as best you can but take care of yourself too. 
I cant wrap my head around this. I " grew up" with him on tv.

What a huge loss. Have seen most of his films and he had a rare gift and skill presenting complex storylines, that will be difficult to replace.
Condolences to his family.
