Police to release person of interest in Brown University shooting

Source: Wall Street Journal via MSN

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The manhunt continues for a suspect in Saturday’s shooting at Brown University.

The person of interest in police custody will be released, said Providence Mayor Brett Smiley said Sunday night. . .

Earlier Sunday, the FBI had detained a person of interest in a hotel room in Coventry, a city outside Providence, the agency said. There wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute the person in custody, officials said. . .

Providence and Brown’s campus will have an enhanced law enforcement presence starting Monday, Smiley said.

“We have no way of knowing” if the perpetrator remains in Providence or has fled the state, Smiley said at a short-notice press conference late Sunday.

Of course, one photo is not indicative of whether a person is capable of committing a horrible act. However, I was not surprised to learn that he has been cleared by law enforcement.

If they're letting him go, it's because they know for an absolute certainty he didn't do it.
