Trump Says Construction of His 'Triumphal Arch' Will Begin 'Sometime in the Next Two Months'

Source: MEDIAite

Dec 31st, 2025, 2:01 pm

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he expects construction of the “Triumphal Arch” he wants to build in Washington, D.C. to begin “sometime in the next two months.”

The arch is one of several building projects Trump has pushed for as the country enters into its 250th year, proposed to be constructed at the culmination of a bridge that leads from the Lincoln Memorial to Arlington National Cemetery. The design of models Trump has shown reporters echoes that of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France and would be designed to honor America’s military veterans.

The president’s other efforts to remake Washington, D.C. have been divisive, from the demolition of the White House’s East Wing for a ballroom to the addition of his name to the Kennedy Center, cheered by his supporters and drawing condemnation — and lawsuits — from critics.

Politico’s West Wing Playbook author Sophia Cai reported on Trump’s latest comments about the arch project Wednesday.

According to the Wackypedia article on the eyesore, it was bombed by leftists rebels in 1989 - and by treasure hunters in 2002.

That second bombing was the more destructive one.

They mistakenly believed that a massive hoard of gold was hidden there - part of the notorious Yamashita's gold cache that a number of Japanese politicians have reputedly had each other killed over the years on account of, and which MacArthur and Al Haig are also said to have drawn from through the CIA-run "M-fund" (the Philippines, you'll recall, had been occupied by Japan).

Remember the incident in which Old Man Bush threw up over the Japanese PM in '92? Disputes over the management of the M-fund were said to be high on the agenda on that trip - albeit secretly.

Who's to say...

...they pledge to:

Fully restore USAID.
Tear down the ballroom.
Tear down the arch.
Remove Trump's name from the Kennedy Center.
Get rid of the wall of presidents and the plaques.

I have a much longer list. But, if Trump can do all this by just doing it, then a Democratic president can undo it by just doing it. I will be enraged if a Democratic president says they "can't" undo anything that Trump did for "reasons". Trump did it by fiat, it can be undone by fiat. In fact, it would be much quicker to demolish than to build.

Except for the civil war, 2025 has been the worst year in American history.

Not knowing that the Arc de Triomphe's significance has nothing to do with any specific person.

Any construction company involved in the building would need to demand payment up front, and design some strategic places of weakness in it to make later demolition easier.

Because they may be called in later to deconstruct it.
