Washington — Republican Rep. Jim Baird of Indiana has been hospitalized after a car accident, President Trump and Baird's office said Tuesday.

Baird's office said the congressman is expected to make a full recovery after his vehicle was struck. Mr. Trump said Baird's wife was also hospitalized after the incident, but will be OK.

"Congressman Baird is in the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, and he is extraordinarily grateful for everyone's prayers during this time," Baird's office said in a statement on X. "Congressman Baird looks forward to continuing his work on behalf of Hoosiers. The office of Congressman Baird will continue to provide services and support for those who need it."

Mr. Trump referenced the incident in a speech before a House Republican retreat at the Kennedy Center in Washington. The president said Baird and his wife will be "fine" but that it was a "bad accident."

My first thought was whether it was a democrat, or someone else Trump has an agenda against.

Really, really scary days.

Using it as an auxiliary Capitol. Pathetic.
