Venezuela will ship sanctioned oil to the U.S. indefinitely, sources close to the White House told CNBC on Wednesday.
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Venezuela will turn over 30 million to 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil, which will be sold at market prices.
That money will be controlled by me, as President of the United States of America, to ensure it is used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States, Trump said in a social media post.
The 50 million barrels are only the first tranche and shipments will continue indefinitely, the sources said. U.S. sanctions against Venezuela will be selectively rolled back to enable the transportation and sale of the oil on global markets, the sources said.

(1,080 posts)It calls out the billionaire oil man that funded Trump and happens to have the largest refining facility to handle Venezuelan heavy crude.

(3,997 posts)You may have heard that Venezuela has the worlds largest oil reserves 300 billion barrels. You probably dont know that Venezuelas reported oil reserves tripled while Hugo Chavez was president. This increase, from roughly 100 billion to 300 billion barrels, didnt reflect major new discoveries or exploration. Instead, it reflected the Chavez governments decision to reclassify the countrys Orinoco Belt heavy oil as proved oil that can be recovered with reasonable certainty under existing economic and operating conditions:
As Torsten Slok of Apollo, who recently made this point, notes, Much of the oil is extra-heavy, which has low recovery and a high cost to produce. This suggests that Venezuelas claims to have immense usable oil reserves were politically motivated hype.
Bolding mine.

(3,408 posts)I have a PSA that I want to repeat:
If you know any young people in your family or in your daily lives, here is my suggestion: DO NOT let them enlist! And if you know anyone that is still in the military, tell them to get out when their enlistment contract ends.

(12,480 posts)I think both the Venezuelan people and their government will have something to say about that.
Did the Venezuelan acting president agree to turn over the oil? Since Venezuela is currently ruthlessly hunting down all US collaborators in the kidnapping of the Maduros, I doubt US oil executives and US military are exempted from this purge.
Has anyone heard from Machado? The last I heard she was believed to be in an undisclosed location after leaving Norway in December 2025. After having invited pedo Trump to attack her country, she better stay away.

(3,997 posts)May as well, it's worthless now anyway.
After Trump backstabbed her ("you knew I was a snake" comes to mind) by declaring she does not have the support or respect of her people, she is now grovelling and licking her wounds from her still- undisclosed location outside Venezuela.

(12,480 posts)It was convenient she never returned after inviting pedo Trump to attack her country then accepting the "peace" prize. Maybe we should call it the Oligarchs' Favorite prize instead of the Nobel "Peace" prize.

Trumpco is also taking their ghost tankers.
I think Putin did speak out about that.
