Democrats threaten to withhold funding after ICE killing in Minneapolis

A day after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot and killed a 37-year-old US citizen in Minneapolis, Democrats on Capitol Hill are demanding restraints on the agency Donald Trump has empowered to carry out his mass deportation campaign – and some are threatening to use the next funding deadline to force those changes.

Democrats sharply condemned the Trump administration over the killing of Renee Nicole Good, demanding accountability after the president; JD Vancethe vice-president; and the secretary of homeland security, Kristi Noem repeatedly claimed that the officer acted in “self-defense”.

Videos taken from multiple angles show Good behind the wheel, reversing her car and then attempting to drive away when an agent shoots her multiple times, remaining on his feet and walking away, apparently uninjured. “Democrats cannot vote for a [Department of Homeland Security] budget that doesn’t restrain the growing lawlessness of this agency,” Chris Murphy, a Democratic senator of Connecticut, wrote on X, sharing a video of the shooting.

Axios reported on Thursday that Murphy was preparing to introduce a sweeping reform package that would require a warrant for arrests, ban agents from wearing masks during enforcement operations and limit border patrol agents from operating in cities far from the border.

Trump will never "restrain" his slavering pack of bloodthirsty gestapo goons, they're just following orders, doing exactly what he wants.

So tired of all of this...Democrats need to become more aggressive and stop fidgeting about what they have to do, its the only way to counteract a bully.

I'm pretty sure Miller is masterminding this clusterfuck. His fingerprints are all over it. Schlump just wants as many brown people deported as possible, and he wants it done as fast as possible. He doesn't care about the details and is happy to leave them to Miller.

I think Noem is just a figurehead, just there to be a spokesperson and look good on camera while praising and defending Schlump. I can't really imagine her coming up with the whole setup of barely trained masked men snatching random people off the streets and every other place you can imagine, holding them in inhumane conditions, making them disappear without due process or any accountability, and on and on. She seems to be fine with the whole thing, but if Miller isn't at the bottom of it all, I'd be extremely surprised.

There's something deeply wrong with that man. I think he's a stone cold psychopath, capable of doing just about anything to anybody without batting an eye. He's like a Nazi concentration camp commandant in a movie about the holocaust (think Ralph Fiennes in Schindler's List).come to life. He gives me the heebie jeebies.

It still boggles my mind that republican lawmakers... senators... congresspeople... city and state leaders are okay with all this. They should all be getting confronted wherever they are ... every day... on video asking why they are okay with what's going on. They have to answer. Expose them. Family values party!

I have learned that wanna-be-dictators allow marches to go on because it allows them to pretend and con the World to think "Democracy" lives, and that is why people have the freedom to protest.

I have also come to the realization that, although it is good to protest and hold marches, the wanna-be-dictators don't care about them, they continue with their agenda as if nothing is going on. They even do worst, they send goons dressed as the protestors to cause chaos so they can blame the people from holding violent marches, which gives them an excuse to send their goons to hurt the people holding peaceful marches.

Democratic leaders need to have huge cojones to do the right thing, they need to bring lawyers, talk to the military which has been, in my opinion, carrying illegal orders from the crook. Democrats must become proactive in many levels, otherwise we are never going to get rid of these thugs, and by thugs I mean republicans in power.

participated, that impression would be bigger.

We have no power over Cankles. Our power is over our local and state and Congressional reps. THEY have power over Cankles. One of the ways we get our message across to those local, state and Congressional reps is through demonstrations.

We need to wield our power over them to demand that they wield their power over him.

A House committee released their version for their chamber - H.R.4213 - Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2026 but the full House hasn't voted on it.

The Senate hasn't passed any appropriations for DHS out of their Committees yet.

The current "Minibus" that was approved by the House includes DOJ, Commerce, DOI, DOE, EPA and related, but NOT DHS.

All are still operating under that extended C.R.

If they have any mechanism to deny ice funding they need to yank those levers hard. Not as a negotiation tactic. To stop them.from funding this army of brownshirts. It is a tool being built to suppress Americans and their votes and inevitably to kill dissenters.

This is, in my opinion, the difference between life and death for every level. The country. The party. The individuals. All of us are directly in immediate danger.
