'I don't know how we recover from this': White House insiders alarmed after Noem's quick response to Renee Good shooting

Source: The Independent

Sunday 11 January 2026 01:18 EST

Some White House insiders are stunned by the Trump administration’s rapid response to the deadly Minneapolis shooting and are concerned that it could undermine confidence in the investigation, according to a new Politico report.

Just hours after Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem accused the 37-year-old mom of “domestic terrorism,” prompting concern from within the administration and among current and former ICE officials, the report says.

Insiders fear, according to the report, that her message risks “undermining public confidence in the ongoing investigation” and “expanding the credibility gap between the public and the immigration agency.”

“Do I think it’s domestic terrorism? Yeah, I do,” a Politico source close to the White House said. “But it might not have been wise to say that at the outset, how [Noem] said it.”

The Independent has contacted DHS for comment.

The shooter, Lyons, Herr Miller, all of them. I'm so pissed I wouldn't bat an eye if we didn't stop at incarceration. I don't want my tax dollars keeping Herr Miller from starving. Fuck him. I want his ashes scattered to the wind like another evil little secret police fuck, Lavrentiy Beria.

Sic semper tyrannis! We need our own version of Lucius Junius Brutus to put an end to this shit. And an END to them.

You can't expand what was never there.
A Dem has filed articles of impeachment against noem, which shows how you repubs might potentially fix this, by supporting that effort. It's a potential start. Will you do the right thing? You're repubs, so it's doubtful.

But I see Epstein dropping off the radar.

Ms. Good's murder may have lit the fuse, but it may take more such murders to really turn the tide. ICE pulled guns on 3 Congresswomen a few days ago who were trying to make an inspection of their facility. Situations like that can turn deadly in the blink of an eye.

Sun Jan 11, 2026, 10:37 AM

1. Find illegal immigrants and people who have stayed longer than their visas allowed and require that they register and pay all taxes like everyone else.
Benefit? By registering it protects them from exploitation and they are paying then for infrastructure that they use like everyone else. Second benefit is employers will have more incentive to pay higher wages to everyone as there won't be as many people to exploit and abuse.

2. ICE arrests should be limited to people that refuse to register and those that have committed major felonies only.

3. Arresting employers that knowingly hire and abuse anyone here illegally with stiff prison terms.

Under your proposal, anyone who was ever issued a visitor visa, admitted under TPS, or admitted pending asylum (even if denied), would then automatically have permanent residency granted. That doesn't seem feasible.

REVOKE that whole "Immigration/Border" section of this - H.R.5005 - Homeland Security Act of 2002 that cannibalized a dozen agencies to create the monstrosity called the "Department of Homeland Security" and put it BACK to the way it was.

"Customs" used to be under the Department of Treasury (because $$$$$$$$$$$$$$)
"INS" (Immigration and Naturalization Service) used to be under the Department of Justice (because enforcement).

What is going on right now is a redundant waste of money created by Shrub and the GOP.

These people can call Good a domestic terrorist, but she clearly was not. She was exercising her Constitutional right to protest. If Republicans need to see real domestic terrorism, all they have to do is watch the January 6 videos.

With this administration, up is down and nothing is done for the public good.

Justice matters.

Insiders fear, according to the report, that her message risks “undermining public confidence in the ongoing investigation” and “expanding the credibility gap between the public and the immigration agency.”

Are they serious?

That is a level of delusion that I was not aware of when it comes to that level of the regime.

I suppose I should not be surprised. Their entire regime is based on delusion anyway.

(Mainly, the delusion that they are on the right side of history. That is one thing that will burst very soon.)

Noem ran out to show her loyalty and fealty which is a regular competition by the cabinet. She jumped in head first on the first day.

Firing her now would be seen as an admission of guilt or being wrong and he’s never wrong

Look, Ross is 18-42 steps away from the Office of the Presidency and that’s any President. Trump thinks anything anywhere negative is tied to him and more importantly to him he thinks that everyone thinks so because everyone MUST be as obsessed with him as he is.

The guy made a horrible mistake. Just start the investigation and show that he has accountability but NO down the line they have to protect Trump.

A terrorist carries deadly weapons with the intent of mayhem.
A terrorist hides his identity.
A terrorist wears garb that belies his intent, for example, cosplay law enforcement.
— Remember the phony cops at the Saint Valentine’s Day massacre?
— They were ice-cold-blooded murderers.
A terrorist drives unmarked vehicles.
A terrorist records his own misdeeds.
A terrorist generally is silent.
A terrorist intentionally defies laws.
A terrorist is part of a secret cadre, hidden from disclosure.
A terrorist kills.

Their investigation will never be completed or even really begun. That way, they can argue that they can't (don't have to) deal with anything because "It's still under investigation".

Any evidence that hasn't been completely destroyed already is in a warehouse somewhere next to the Arc of the Covenant.

They have the credibility of cockroaches.
