In Minneapolis, federal agents used tear gas, pepper balls, and flashbangs against protesters demonstrating against the presence and violent tactics of ICE agents; eight people were taken into custody. The tension, which began last week after the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent, reached its peak as the Trump administration deployed thousands of new agents as part of what it calls the "largest operation in DHS history." According to the report, there are currently approximately 800 Border Patrol (CBP) and 2,000 ICE agents in the Minneapolis area.
Stephen Miller, a top official in the Trump administration, issued a stern warning on Fox News, stating that state and city officials who obstruct federal operations or engage in "criminal conspiracies" against ICE agents will face justice. In response, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, along with the mayors of Minneapolis and St. Paul, filed a lawsuit against the federal government, characterizing the situation as a "federal invasion." The lawsuit argues that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is violating constitutional rights by targeting Democratic-leaning states that welcome immigrants.
The atmosphere on the streets is reported to be extremely tense, with heavily armed and masked agents patrolling in unmarked vehicles, while residents blow orange whistles to warn one another when they spot them. The report also mentions that several federal prosecutors resigned in protest after the Justice Department decided not to launch a civil rights investigation into the killing of Renee Good.
On the other hand, Trump administration spokespeople accused local officials of ignoring public safety, defending that President Trumps job is to enforce the law regardless of who the mayor or governor is. While the federal government continues to claim "self-defense" regarding the death of Renee Good, local officials and witnesses state that video evidence contradicts this claim.

(17 posts)Once conflict is moralized, victory can no longer mean compromise or coexistence. But unconditional surrender is not a realistic outcome, only a fantasy. The system therefore produces endless conflict with no terminus.
