Stephen Miller claims local police in Minnesota have been told to ‘stand down and surrender’ as federal agents ‘uphold the law’

Miller, the architect behind the Trump administration’s anti-immigration agenda, made the claim in a X post Sunday night.

“Only federal officers are upholding the law,” claimed Miller. “Local and state police have been ordered to stand down and surrender.”

The Minneapolis Police Department denied Miller’s claim in a statement to The Independent.

Miller was responding to another social media post by New York Post columnist Miranda Devine, who claimed “local cops have gone AWOL” in Minneapolis.

...that what he is doing here is claiming that officials in Minnesota have ordered their police departments to "stand down" and not help ICE--thus laying the groundwork for invoking the Insurrection Act.

It seems that people have misconstrued his statement to mean that he ordered local police to stand down, but what I believe he is saying actually lays the groundwork for much more insidious actions.

He is also lying--of course.
