Doctor who treated Dick Cheney calls for congressional inquiry into Trump's presidential fitness

Source: The hill

Dr. Jonathan Reiner, cardiologist to the late former Vice President Dick Cheney, called on Monday for a congressional inquiry into President Trump’s fitness. Reiner, a CNN medical analyst, cited Trump’s recent letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, in which he appeared to link his threats to acquire Greenland to his having not been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

“This letter, and the fact that the president directed that it be distributed to other European countries, should trigger a bipartisan congressional inquiry into presidential fitness,” Reiner wrote on the social platform X. Trump’s message, which was shared with multiple European ambassadors, questioned why Denmark has a “right of ownership” over Greenland, a semiautonomous Arctic territory rich in minerals and seen as key to security in the region.

Trump’s continued efforts to acquire Greenland despite pushback from European allies has raised alarm in and out of the country. “The president of the United States is extremely mentally ill and it’s putting all of our lives at risk. The 25th Amendment exists for a reason—we need to invoke it immediately,” Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.) said in an X post, sharing the letter to Støre.

Reiner has previously raised questions about the president’s health and regimen. Last month, he said Trump’s aspirin regimen, which was detailed to the Wall Street Journal, “makes no sense.”

That’s not going to happen.

And there’ll be no congressional inquiry as long as Republicans are in control.

Republicans are as unfit to govern as Trump.

I mean, in THIS case, the 25th Amendment (and I don't know if it's set up to do this) should render all his decisions null and void, INCLUDING his picks for his Cabinet, which in turn would avoid "DO YOU, SHADY EYELINER, SOLEMNLY SWEAR..."

Can't fault fantasy....

despite the unwillingness to confront it-- Mr. trump is nuts. I'm not sorry at all to see more and people embrace the idea and get as many eyeballs on the issue as possible.

Mental Health - 1. Baker Act

What is the Baker Act?
Chapter 394 of the Florida Statutes is known as the Baker Act or the Florida Mental Health Act. A Baker Act proceeding is a means of providing an individual with emergency service for mental health evaluation (examination) and/or treatment (placement).

How do I petition the court for an Involuntary Baker Act Examination?
Appear in person at the Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller's office to complete a sworn affidavit/petition.

Who can petition the court to initiate an Involuntary Baker Act Examination?
Any individual who is of age and who has witnessed the actions of a person and believes that person to be a threat to themselves or others and is willing to give testimony to that, can file a petition for Involuntary Examination.

Arrive at the office by 3:30 PM to allow time for processing.
Provide information as to the respondent’s (person subject to the Baker Act) behavior, identification and location.
If the emergency services are required after hours, on the weekend or on a holiday, please contact your local law enforcement who shall take the person who appears to meet the criteria for involuntary examination into custody and deliver the person to an appropriate facility or the nearest facility within the designated receiving system for an involuntary examination. (F.S. 394.462(2)(a)2.

Filing paperwork in Washington, DC is full of snares...

Washington, DC has "The Lenora Baker Way Designation Act of 2025" for involuntary commitment...

Also...

https://code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/code/titles/21/chapters/5

A person can be involuntarily committed for psychiatric treatment in Washington, DC when a psychiatrist, qualified physician, or qualified psychologist has examined the person and has determined that the person has a mental illness which makes them a danger to themself or others, and that hospitalization is the least restrictive setting that meets the person’s needs.

or

A sworn written statement is provided to the court by a petitioner that:

(A) good reason exists to believe that the person is mentally ill + because of the illness is likely to injure him-/herself or other persons if not committed; and

(B) the person has refused to submit to examination by a physician or qualified psychologist.

If the person is an adult, the patient must authorize the Department to serve notice to their spouse, domestic partner, or legal guardian as long as the notice is consistent with the District of Columbia Mental Health Information Act of 1978 D.C. Code §7-1201-0.1.

Patients cannot be detained for more than 48 hours, unless the chief officer of the department files a written petition w/ the court for emergency observation + diagnosis of the patient, in which case, the patient’s detention cannot exceed seven days from the time the order is entered.

Patients are entitled to a complete record of their treatment as a patient.

https://code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/code/sections/21-541

Not all mental health conditions qualify for involuntary commitment in Washington, DC. Apparently, drug addiction and alcoholism do not qualify as a mental illness.

https://www.dccourts.gov/services/family-matters/mental-health-and-mental-habilitation

So, it appears it would be easier to file Baker Act paperwork when Krasnov is in residence in Florida...

I don't think we could get 2/3 of both congressional chambers to vote for his ouster.

t would be a nice distraction from the talk of Epstein files, which are also going nowhere for now.
