O'Hare air traffic controllers evacuate tower after water pipe burst, causing flight delays: FAA
Source: ABC 7 Chicago
Air traffic controllers were forced to evacuate the center tower at O'Hare airport early Tuesday morning after a water pipe burst.
The evacuation lasted about an hour, starting around 1 a.m.
Operations had to be shifted to a facility in an office building until controllers in the north and south towers took over operations.
The incident led to hundreds of flight delays but only a few cancellations. The Federal Aviation Administration is now checking to see if any air traffic control equipment in the tower was damaged.
