MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Insisting that he was in Minnesota to calm tensions, Vice President JD Vance on Thursday blamed far-left people and state and local law enforcement officials for the chaos that has unfolded during the White Houses aggressive deportation campaign.
The Republican vice president said, Were doing everything that we can to lower the temperature, adding that Minnesota leaders should meet us halfway.
The Justice Department is investigating top Democrats in the state, including Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, over whether they have obstructed or impeded immigration enforcement through their public criticism of the administration. Walz and Frey have described the investigation as an attempt to bully the political opposition.
Federal officers stood in a row behind Vance as he spoke, and there were two U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement vehicles emblazoned with the slogan Defend the Homeland.

(8,838 posts)Trump will be gone in a year or two, and Vance wants to lead his base to support his election as president in 2028.
But, he hasn't got the gravitas to get the job done. He's Just Dumb Vance, and always will be.

You know like disregarding the 4th and 14th Amendments. All those ICE agent types are the ones screaming "Castle Doctrine " when they shoot someone breaking into their house, so I know they know what they are doing is wrong.

"The 10th Amendment states that any powers not specifically granted to the federal government by the Constitution are reserved for the states or the people.
Overview of the 10th Amendment
The 10th Amendment was ratified on December 15, 1791, as part of the Bill of Rights. It reads: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. This means that if the Constitution does not give a power to the federal government, that power belongs to the states or the people themselves. "

(43,162 posts)If Peter Thiel were to run Vance for president, everyone can be assured Vance would still be opposed to immigration, abortion, same-sex marriage, gun control, and U.S. support for Ukraine ...
He has cited Catholic social teaching and Catholic theology as influences on his views, some of which have been criticized by both Pope Francis and his successor, Pope Leo XIV, as misrepresenting Church teaching He's against just about everything Jesus was for.
Thiel and Vance, more bad guys all around.
