Police in suburban Minneapolis took 24 people into custody Monday evening outside a hotel where Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were believed to be staying.
The Maple Grove Police Department said some protesters engaged in unlawful behavior, including damaging property and throwing objects at officers. Police ordered the crowd to disperse, and those who remained were detained. Police said charges ranged from unlawful assembly to rioting. Officials said they would provide more details on the type of charges at a later time.
Hotels believed to house ICE agents have been frequent targets of protesters, who use whistles and other noisemakers in an effort to disrupt agents sleep. Video from outside the SpringHill Suites showed dozens of people banging pots and pans, beating drums and using other noisemakers.
Maple Grove police said the department has not been involved in immigration enforcement activities. However, local police agencies have responded to anti-ICE protests.

Something troopers threatened to use to clear the crowd made a lot of ears perk up. It's called a "long range acoustic device," or LRAD.
Minnesota State Patrol troopers used a powerful sound system first used by the military in Maple Grove, Minnesota, to communicate and disperse noisy protesters.
"The LRAD is like a loudspeaker, but it focuses the sound in a narrow cone, so that if you're inside the cone, it's extremely loud," said retired Marine Colonel Mark Cancian, a senior adviser for the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
. . . Police say they arrested 26 people for unlawful assembly and misdemeanor riot charges.

It gets confusing. Minnesota national guard hands out coffee and donuts, then the Minnesota state police use lrad on protestors to protect the ice officers peaceful sleep, and local PD arrest protestors to make sure ICE can get a good nights rest?

(166,695 posts)I have an uncle who lives in Maple Grove (has been there for almost 30 years). Had visited his first house there almost that long ago but he eventually moved to another one not long after. So when I saw this story, it caught my attention!!

(25,036 posts)I picture these guys to be like Don Jr. and Jesse Watters except with muscles. They are just idiot bros with a junior high school mentality of a 14 year old boy. These are the professionals that Karoline Leavitt talks about?
It's clarifying to see these chodes with their masks down, asses out for the world to see, and as the irredeemable incel losers that they truly are

So, earplugs should be added to your 'protest' pack.
In my opinion, we need a group of deaf protestors to go there. Watch them laugh as the police use that device.
