MAGA 'Was All A Lie': Marjorie Taylor Greene Torches Trump In Scathing New Interview
Source: Huff Post
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) called out one-time ally President Donald Trump for abandoning the core promises behind his Make America Great Again movement. MAGA is, I think, people are realizing, it was all a lie, she told YouTube host Kim Iversen. It was a big lie for the people.
The Trump administration, she said, is all about serving big, big donors, including foreign countries and large corporations, with many funneling cash to Trumps PACs and pet projects such as his White House ballroom to win favor.
And if theyre donating to all these things, those are the people that get the special favors, they get the government contracts, they get the pardons or somebody they love or one of their friends gets a pardon, she said. Greene wasnt willing to give Trump a pass by blaming advisors or others in his inner circle.
People always think, Oh, its his staff. They want to blame everyone around him, she said. There may be a point where people have to come to grips with this is Donald Trump. Greene said she was once a true believer in Trumps MAGA movement. Indeed, she was not only a vocal supporter but was frequently by his side at campaign rallies and other events.

Still don't trust her, but if she is able to turn some more magats against tsf, at least that might help.

I expect to see her start appearing regularly in the run up to the mid-terms...book it!

(3,195 posts)She was a rising star in his momentum; spoke out about an issue and was sumarily dump on the roadside.
She had enough dignity and sense of self worth to say this guy is a phony, unprinicipaled, and won't tolerate any
dissention, cause it's all about HIM and nobody else. Aside from the bruised ego, I applaud her take on it. It's all tranactional with that avericious floating excretment. 'You're done when I no longer need you.."
I don't like her positions. Unlikely we'd agree on anything except that trump is a fraud and a distructive one.
But, because she 1) gets it. 2) expeienced it. 3) now sees thru it. She's going to convert people to reason.
"Had Enough" is an effective slogan. People are going to get there on different issues- guns, ICE, deportaion cruelties, pedophilia, the list goes on.
The point is ANTI trump, and the march has begun very publicly and I'll take the maga crowd with limited sensibilities as trump opposition when we need them.. Welcome onboard..

(14,444 posts)I'm glad she sees this now, and isn't afraid to speak out about it. But, frankly, what took her so long to see that which has been so obvious from the beginning? If people think MAGA isn't a cult, this is just more evidence. When true believers can shake off the blinders, people should listen.

(19,453 posts)money for those kind of people. Being anyone but those like herself. I think that a lot of people with those viewpoints are seeing where those actions are leading to.
People did mind paying taxes when they could see some benefit. Look at the EU's health care and social services. But when normal Americans pay and can not see any benefit you get "Tea Party" and Tea Party naturally progresses to MAGA and worse.
I really feel all this could have been prevented (or cured) with National health care and worker benefits like EU. Day care, longer vacations longer maternal leave, better wages and higher taxes on the wealthy. Less spending on military.

Or E Jean Carroll? Or all Trump's contacts and communication with the Russians? Including Vladimir Putin himself?
Or all the donor money he took for his transition team and pocketed like he also did with the first inauguration?

Or all the foreign dignitaries who changed their travel accommodations to the Trump hotel in the old DC Post Office?

(23,181 posts)Unlike Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and J.D. Vance, etc., who all clearly saw Trump for what he really was and then became his willing lap dogs anyway, Greene (whatever her motives) has publicly moved in the exact opposite direction, something a shitload of other Republicans remain too fearful of doing.

(4,252 posts)...had very little interest or experience in politics. When TSF engage with their anger in the context of politics, they all felt like they'd just discovered gravity. Dang smart, they suddenly felt in all matters political! They were ready to elect Dunning-Kruger if they couldn't elect TSF! They couldn't bear to let go of that feeling of superiority he sold them, no matter what they learned about him...they are a true cult following now. Good luck bringing them to their senses, Marge. They just never had a whole lot of that stuff to start with, which is why they were such rabid supporters of the most evil person on earth.

(19 posts)I remember that day when she went to an airport to greet trump, and she looked all excited, almost like a wife waiting for her returning husband, and trump didn't go over to say hi or anything just walked on and ignored her. she looked pretty devastated standing there alone on the tarmac. I think that day stands as at least a symbolic point in her shift from rump fanatic to trump critic. and it may well have actually been a pivotal moment when she realized she was being used and could be discarded at any point if trump tired of her. there is a whole bunch of trump fans that had better have that realization soon or they too will get to see what the undercarriage of a bus looks like.

You have to wonder how different her attitude would be if she had gotten that VP nod or Cabinet position she so desperately wanted? She wanted to be ICE Barbie, but despite being a brunette, Noem got it instead.

But SHE was the one that got stabbed in the back--and it seems to have opened her eyes. But there is little doubt that sans that she would be on the front lines of shoveling more fuel into the MAGA stupidity quasar.
But we do see one thing in malAdministration 2.0: the pretense of caring about people like MTG is gone. She is likely a bellwether for many MAGAs. We can only hope they decide to make their voices heard by not showing up to support the MAGA candidates in the midterms--because they are never going to vote D--and then fracture once Agent Orange is no longer a candidate.
It's very small hope, but this newfound enlightenment by MTG at least gives us some....
