Sandusky appeals sex abuse conviction

Source: CNN

Jerry Sandusky gets a shot at regaining some of his freedom Thursday, when his lawyers launch an appeal to reverse his conviction on multiple counts of child sex abuse.

The coach was sentenced in October to no less than 30 years and no more than 60 years in prison for abusing 10 boys during a 15-year period. He originally faced the possibility of up to a 400-year prison term.

The former Penn State assistant football coach will appear at the Center County court in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, where his legal team will make a "post-sentence motion."

Judge John Cleland, who presided over Sandusky's conviction and sentencing will not rule on it until a yet-unannounced future date.

I'm more concerned about the other people involved being held accountable now that Sandusky is put away as well as making sure the sanctions against Penn State kept.

Sandusky, by appealing, can keep his victims from moving on...as long as his appeals continue, they STILL aren't free of him-it still isn't really over.

It restores his power over those he abused, for at least a little while longer.

no one should have to testify again. I suppose even the possibility of that happening is pretty scary.

that he honestly can't believe that this is happening to him, that he's actually being held accountable for his disgusting acts. It's like he truly believes that his rescue from all of this will happen any day now.

This, again, makes me think that this story goes much, much deeper. I truly believe his "charity" was the front for a pedophile ring with some VERY powerful members, who also happened to donate substantial amounts to Penn State. This would explain why his "charity" completely shut down almost immediately after this story came to light, why the investigation into other aspects of the case seems to be moving at a glacial pace, and why this piece of shit continues to behave the way he does.
