Source: Variety
Chuck Norris, the martial arts champion who became an iconic action star and led the hit series Walker, Texas Ranger, has died. He was 86.
Norris was hospitalized in Hawaii on Thursday, and his family posted a statement Friday saying that he died that morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace, his family wrote.
To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family, the statement continued. He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.

(72,229 posts)He was a shitty actor and a right-wing chuzzlewit. Never understood his fanatical following.

(3,721 posts)He was kind of fun early in his career. But he lost me bigly when he went all political.

(17,592 posts)But I understood that was what the movies were - to escape into a fantasy story for an hour and a half. I understood the martial arts scenes were choreographed and that the "bad guy" was never going to win!!!!
I never understood the people who wanted him to be an "idol" because he wasn't anything more than an actor - and probably a bad one. He was no Bruce Lee. But he cut out a niche for himself and made a living.
In his later years, it seemed a little pathetic to me that he tried to maintain any relevance and the pushing of the "exercise" and "health" products was a little sad. Obviously, I did not agree or like his political stuff.
That said - he has a family and people who loved him, and I wish those peace and comfort.

(1,778 posts)Highly skilled in tournaments and held the middleweight championship for years. Rumored to be into the underground Muay Thai and stick fighting scene, but obviously no Benny the Jet in that genre.

Your friend, Chuck Norris
Rest In Peace, "Texas Ranger"; you are now united with your "partner"/co-star Clarence Gilyard Jr.

(12,296 posts)What a horrible human being.
A man that was given so much talent and potential to use it to just be a bully and a prick, is the saddest part about his life. He could have been a good guy but choose to just another rich, selfish arrogant asshole.

(104 posts)Softly, tentatively, and a soft fragile voice says, Sir? Sir? I am so sorry, but its time. Chuck Norris rolls out of bed and says, Dont get your knickers in a twist, I aint gunna hurt you. And Death breaths a sigh of relief and leads him to the next great adventure.
Or better yet, Chuck Norris hears the door open from his bed. He looks up and sees Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee says, Time to go.
I was not a fan of the political Chuck, but enjoyed the Chuck Norris jokes. Which are your favorites?

(5,364 posts)Even less upon seeing this video. I won't say I am glad he's dead. I'd rather have had him live long enough to see what a freaking disaster his "people," have made out of not only this country but the entire world. Not to mention to see him and his wife be burdened with the negative consequences their own ignorance helped promote.
