White House budget director Vought declines to tell senators cost of Iran war
Source: The Hill
Russell Vought, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, declined to give senators an estimate of the cost of the military operations against Iran when pressed on the issue during a hearing Thursday.
Vought said the White House is working on a request for additional defense funding but declined to offer an estimate of how much the war has cost taxpayers so far, telling lawmakers that the costs fluctuate day to day.
Asked by Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) if the administration has already spent $50 billion on the conflict, as some media reports have indicated, Vought said: I wouldnt [want] to make a characterization of that at this point.
That answer didnt sit well with the senior Democrat, who told Vought, I would expect you to have pretty good numbers on that so Im a little disappointed in that answer.

(12,357 posts)Let me see if I understand this correctly: the Legislative branch controls the purse strings but the people that are supposed to control the purse strings don't know how much we've spent?!?
And the head of OMB is refusing to tell Congress how much the Executive branch is spending on its unauthorized war?
I've heard we have as many as 50,000 troops in boats, just floating around out there for a war Mango Mussolini says is over.
A war in which he needs billions more of our tax payer dollars to pay for the war he says is over.
Sorry, as a tax payer I take great exception to all of this.
Congress is full of a bunch of bootlicking, spineless politicians that are cheering the downfall of this nation to satisfy the ego of an 80 yr old narcissistic madman.

(1,230 posts)Is the most evil of all the evil people in this junta. He must be held accountable when all is said and done. He is primarily responsible for most of the damage done to our country. It also needs to be made abundantly clear to the public the he and Stephen Miller are really the ones running things. If the MSM would report that fact over and over again, Trumps fragile ego couldnt take it and both would be gone.
