House Democrat urges King Charles to acknowledge Epstein victims during address to Congress

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) on Sunday urged King Charles III to acknowledge the victims of the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his address to Congress this week, when the monarch will make his first state visit to the U.S.

“I am hopeful that King Charles, when he speaks to the Congress, will acknowledge the Epstein survivors, will call for justice, will call for investigations and prosecutions,” Khanna said during a Sunday appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “It would be an enormous gesture if when he’s speaking at the Congress, he does that. And I’m hopeful that he will,” he added.

Charles is expected to address Congress on Tuesday during a four-day trip that will include stops in Washington, D.C.; New York City; and Virginia. He and his wife, Queen Camilla, have already said they will not meet with Epstein victims but have not shared any additional details about Charles’s speech to lawmakers outside of celebrating America’s 250th founding anniversary.

Khanna, who is the co-author of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, said he was “disappointed” that Charles will not meet with victims.

But not here to Philly, apparently unbeknownst to the general public as being the place where the Declaration was signed/ratified?

His mother came here for the Bicentennial and gave us a bell from the same foundry as the Liberty Bell! His baby brother dedicated a new garden set up to re-display that bell just last year.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II dedicated the Bicentennial Bell on July 6, 1976, during her visit to Independence National Historical Park. (Independence Historical Trust)

The Queen’s bell will live on in Independence Park

Not to minimize Epstein's crimes but what exactly does Ro Khanna want from the King? Some sort of sharing of the blame? Pressure on Trump? What? He has hardly ignored acknowledgment and administered justice for the one part that was indeed within his orbit namely his brother as far as his official position will allow. The rest is up to law enforcement which he has made clear he will not try to interfere with or use any influence to shield his brother with. If his address to congress has to do with the 250 anniversary of the United States then it will no doubt concern British / American relations in history and in general... A theme in which the Epstein affair has no place in at all, No doubt in the future he will be confronted with questions again about it if his brother is prosecuted and he can talk at length if he so chooses about it then but for now I agree with his decision not to talk about it on this occasion as it is wholly irrelevant to the occasion and purpose of his visit
