Democrat on Trump's ballroom: 'My constituents can't afford f--ing groceries or utility bills'

Source: The Hill

Rep. Sarah McBride (D-Del.) on Tuesday railed against a push to fund President Trump’s White House ballroom, citing affordability concerns in her state and nationwide.

“My constituents can’t afford f—ing groceries or utility bills, and he now wants to spend taxpayer money on a ballroom?” McBride told MeidasTouch in an interview.

“They shouldn’t use a potential tragedy to try to secure funding from taxpayers for the president to have Great Gatsby parties in the White House,” she added, referring to the Saturday shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

The alleged shooter, Cole Allen, was charged with an assassination attempt on the president, transportation of a firearm and ammunition in interstate commerce with intent to commit a felony, and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence. Trump and other Republicans have suggested that the dinner and other similar events be held inside the White House ballroom in future years due to safety concerns at outside complexes.

This is how you attack them. Change the narrative and get the voters on your side.

how is he safe on a golf course?

How is he safe at Mar-a-Lago, where he wanders into the dining area and into private parties and events?

How is he safe at rallies, in TV studios doing interviews, at public appearances at the White House?

This is all just another con job.

Even while he's inside. Constantly reminding him that he may have enemies close by with knives so he can never be safe with anyone.

Even MTG turned on him eventually. Anyone in his inner circle might be next and carrying a hidden weapon.

Make him as paranoid as possible, and maybe he'll drive himself totally and completely, terminally bonkers as a result.

I think I said "terminally," but I can't see what I wrote at the moment. If I didn't say terminally, I meant to.

I don't dispute that he's crazy, btw.

Everything they say is just total bullshit.

Help make sure the "build a felon a ballroom" legislation is DOA.

Every once in a while he gets something right--he's a contrarian. But, he's still all rethuglican.

"Dr. Rand Paul Introduces a Bill to Authorize Construction of the Proposed New White House Ballroom

I stand with President Trump on building a new White House ballroom. After the latest assassination attempt at the Correspondents’ Dinner, it’s clear we need this secure, large-scale event space on the grounds for the President, for future administrations, and for America. I’ve personally reviewed and supported this project as a National Capital Planning Commissioner earlier this month.

I’m introducing a bill to keep the Ballroom Project privately funded, fully transparent with Congress, and at NO COST to taxpayers. It requires any Executive Residence project over $1 million to be reviewed by the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee of the Senate and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform of the House of Representatives. Once the chairs confirm their review, it’s published in the Congressional Record and authorized, followed by progress reports afterward. This is the responsible path toward supporting President Trump’s vision, protecting national security, reassuring taxpayers, maintaining congressional oversight, and getting the job done.

Proud to help move the East Wing Modernization Project forward."

Why not do what the GOP do whenever there is a proposal that needs funding - propose cutting funding elsewhere or raise taxes.
