Charles, Camilla pay respects at 9/11 Memorial

Charles and Camilla’s first stop in New York City Wednesday was the National 9/11 Memorial, where they met with families of Sept. 11, 2001, victims and first responders.

The royals were greeted by former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who showed them the memorial and stood by their side as they laid a bouquet of flowers.

Other elected officials in attendance at the memorial were New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill.

Unfortunately I didn't receive a personal escort from ex-Mayor Bloomberg, I think he was busy that day.

It was raining and he didn't want to get wet or some other stupid excuse. The King (a real king) and Queen showed class. Trump the fake king has none.

Camilla was his consort and not actually queen.

Nobody ever referred to Queen Elisabeth's husband as King, he was granted the status and title of Prince, so why is everybody calling her a queen?

6. Camilla went through some sort of ceremonial procedures.

The procedures elevated her from Consort to Queen, something Charles definitely was going to make sure happened.

Edit to add: Phillip was married to the Queen, but marriage didn't make him a King - that's by birth only.

Camilla is only there due to marriage.

I can never see her as much more than melanoma's high stature of First Concubine so I guess it's just me thinking there's something wrong with it.

From what I understand she didn't 'qualify' for full Queenship because she'd been married before, but Charles insisted that she be given the full title of Queen. Since the Royal Brits have rules and rules on top of rules, she had to be annointed just like Charles was, and he saw to it that it happened.

As an aside, I think the whole muddle is Camilla's fault. Back in the day, she didn't want to wait for Charles to complete his training - like Catherine did for William (remember how the press called Catherine 'waitee Katie'?)

Camilla was impatient and got married, but she and Charles never broke up... as Diana said, there were three of them in the marriage. Camilla got divorced before Diana died (waiting in the wings?) and it was just a matter of time before she and Charles would hook up. In a way it's a good thing Charles originally married Diana and not Camilla - I can't imagine what their 'issue' would have looked like.

So Charles finally has the woman of his dreams and some day William will sit on the throne. At least Harry was smart enough to ditch the lot and get the hell away from that disfunctional family.

A queen is either a queen regnant or queen consort. A queen regnant is the ruling monarch. A queen consort is the wife of a king. Camilla will be queen consort only so long as she is the wife of the monarch. She is not William's mother, so when Charles dies, she will not be the queen mother. She will likely be titled as the queen dowager.

A king is always a ruling monarch. There is no such thing as a king consort. That is why Queen Elizabeth's husband was styled Prince Phillip.

It's archaic but them's the rules.

She is proof that the heart will not be told whom it may love.

How in any world could she be the other woman that Charles would choose over Diana?

The other man before he married Diana so I guess waiting until both their spouses were dead was their answer to the problem though they were obviously involved the whole time.

I agree with your sentiment about her public visibility.

9. They originally had it set up that she would be called "Consort" not "Queen"

If Diana had lived and stayed married to Charles, she would have had the title Queen.

Somehow it got kicked around when Charles actually married Camilla, and it was finally decided that she would receive the title of Queen after Elizabeth's passing and Charles' ascension. But they kept it quiet for a long time because Elizabeth was still living.

The waters flow down into the lower pool.
Because the names are cut out of the metal people wilo stick a flower stem into the openings. Very lovely.

Went through the process waaay back of originally voting on the then proposed designs at a big Javits Center meeting.
Can't remember what I picked, and if this was in the running but I love it.
