NEW YORK (AP) One day after the Democratic National Committee released its botched autopsy report on the 2024 election, party leaders continued limping toward the midterm elections even as other prominent Democrats demanded major changes at the very top of the organization.
Ken Martin, the committees chair, faced new calls to resign from elected officials and Democratic operatives, who say he mismanaged a report originally intended to be a comprehensive examination of the partys failures and a potential road map for its future. Martin kept the document under wraps for months, stoking speculation about its contents, only to release it this week and insist it was too flawed to be useful anyway.
There doesnt seem to be a plan to turn things around and the clock is ticking. November is literally around the corner, Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Texas, told Semafor. I believe its time for him to move on.
He should resign, Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., said to Axios.

(27,708 posts)...and I would say that DNC leadership is doing a whole lot worse than just "limping." They're letting the whole party down.

(4,776 posts)You can get more clicks sowing a sense of trouble anywhere and everywhere. To put things into perspective, if Democratic leaders and pearl clutchers are limping, republican leaders are littering the hillside with their corpses.
Unengaged Americans hold a significantly negative opinion of both parties in general. There's hardly any time that either party is flying high in approval, in spite of what party leader have to contend with on a continual basis.

Bring on some folks who are not afraid of actually taking an aggressive and combative stance against the party of convicted felons and their excusers.

(69,676 posts)Nothing has worried me as much as learning that there's nobody doing the job at the DNC.
In the age of internet politics, up against billionaires who own the online platforms, TV, and radio - we have nothing. No analysts, no planning, just consultants taking huge fees to write AI "reports" an 11th grade civics student could do better.

(43,555 posts)we have to keep that in mind. At the time it was written, people knew trump would be a nightmare but not competitive with monsters like Hitler.
In the last few days one of the psychologists who watches trump's dementia says that he could reach Hitler-like death numbers. Think about how incompetent he is and then look at what is happening with Ebola and a few other diseases and it is not farfetched.
I heard a radio program on this report and while I haven't read it, what I heard was indeed lackluster and enormously disappointing.
I do think, however, that we have our spokespeople who are doing a consistently good job with criticizing him. Chris Van Hollen. Jaimie, and numerous others that I can't think of because it's almost 3 a.m.

(17,595 posts)These are the same crticis who pushed Biden out. In a few words, Harris could have chosen to put Jared Bernstein and Bidenomics central to her campaign and all the ways Biden, her and Dems saved the country from complete economic disaster post-covid. She could have broken with Biden over Israel/Gaza. Instead she focused on getting Never Trumpers on board. Game.Set. Match.

He is doing political pandering, which is fine, but smells like a political oportunism to me.

(6,643 posts)Why can't we get someone like Martin O'Malley as DNC chair? You know, someone who knows what the hell they're doing.

This is a disgrace. No data, no analysis, a report written by AI.
My local paper had an article yesterday about how breathtakingly error-filled the section on NC was. Didn't even get the vote count correct!
The average DU poster could have written a better report off the tops of our heads.
