Country music legend pulls out of Trump's Great American State Fair, claims nonpartisan is 'misleading'
Source: AL.com
Martina McBride is the latest performer to pull out of Donald Trumps Great American State Fair, saying she was misled by the type of event it was.
The country music star took to social media to clear the air.
I will not be performing at the Great American State Fair on June 25, her post on Instagram read. I was presented with an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event, but that turned out to be misleading.
[....]
She added she asked a lot of questions and was assured it would be a nonpartisan event that was meant to celebrate all 50 states.

It's already been posted that many entertainers are pulling out, but when tRump starts losing country music stars it's getting bad.

(15,674 posts)but, increasingly - people must come to understand that word from this administration (be it from the highest level, to the lowest staffer/flunky) - simply does not mean anything, and cannot be trusted.
Sorry that Martina had to find this out the hard way ... But - eventually - people are figuring it out.

(8,948 posts)How do you get put on that list without you knowing. And who the fuck wants any damn thing to do with anything associated with this regime?
Non partisan -- whatever.
I would fire my booking agent or sue if the administration just used the names without getting a contract.

(19,787 posts)including the subject of the OP. The poster also said "and 25 others" but presumably the biggest names would have been the ones who got a picture and name shown.
Of the four remaining, it was Vanilla Ice, C+C Music Factory, Bret Michaels, and someone else (I already forget).
So they are absolutely bleeding acts, and that is after booking mostly music industry dregs and detritus to begin with.

If Trump is going to lean into the trash stereotype, may as well go all the way.

(I think you need to tighten up who - and what - you are arguing against.)

Country music exists so untalented people can have careers, too.

Country has its problems - but then so does rock, rap, trap, R&B, jazz ....
