Governor's son-in-law said to be investigated by FBI

Source: Pittsburgh Post Gazette

The son-in-law of Gov. Tom Corbett, a narcotics officer with the Philadelphia Police Department, is under investigation by the FBI and was removed from the street today, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

The Philadelphia Police department confirmed that a narcotics officer was taken off the street and placed on administrative leave Thursday, following the results of an FBI and Internal Affairs investigation. The department said it would not identify the officer because he had not been arrested or formally charged.

The Philadelphia Inquirer, citing anonymous sources, identified the officer as Gerold Gibson, Mr. Corbett's son-in-law. Mr. Corbett, attending a Chamber of Commerce event in Philadelphia late Thursday, left without speaking to the media.

Officer Gibson is married to Mr. Corbett's daughter, Katherine, who works as a deputy attorney general in the Philadelphia office making $69,700. She started in March of 2012, and as of late last year she was assigned to the office's Drug Strike Force section.

"According to law enforcement sources, Gerald Gibson is a narcotics officer with the Philadelphia force. Sources tell us Gibson was caught on hidden camera, taking money out of a car he was told to search. What Gibson didn't know, according to sources, is that that the was money planted in the car by investigators. Gibson has been placed on administrative leave, according to sources. http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Governor-Corbett-Son-in-Law-Investigation-189271061.html.
How ironic, former PA. Attorney General, now GOP Governor Tom Corbett has the woman he appointed as his successor Attorney General, hire Corbett's daughter to work on the Drug Strike Force, but the Phillie police & FBI arrest her police narcotics officer husband in a sting operation. Let's all sing another chorus of Family Values.

PLUS, this throws a monkey wrench into Corbett's ambitions for a second term as Governor, and/or an eventual bid for national office. Sweet!

6. The first link, to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, works when I checked it, but the second link

to NBC 10 Philadelphia, does not - even though the same link from my FB page works. Don't know what's wrong, but the NBC 10 Phillie "not found" page provides a search box - just type in Corbett Gibson & should pull up the latest story. The story's all over PA news sources now - latest spin from one source is that the Governor's daughter & her husband are separated. If they weren't before, bet they will be by tomorrow morning.

.... to disenfranchise the people's vote and bragged about it in that speech?
Sing it with me..."Karma, karma, karma karma karmaaaaaaaaaa!"
I wonder if he got that job for his daughter because he knew his son was going down in a drug bust? Wonder how Tom got along with Gerald, his beloved son-in-law?
I love these political soap operas. In my minds eye, I see the birth of a new movie genre.
The shenanigans of the Karma reapers.

Our new Democratic Attorney General, Kathleen Kane, is going to investigate Corbett's handling of the Penn State case.

https://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/01/us/investigation-to-focus-on-governors-handling-of-penn-state-abuse-case.html?_r=2&

Pennsylvania’s new attorney general is set to name a special prosecutor in the coming days to investigate Gov. Tom Corbett’s handling of the case, specifically why nearly three years elapsed before criminal charges were brought.

Attorney General Kathleen Kane, a Democrat elected in November, confirmed her plans in an interview here. She suggested that when he was attorney general Mr. Corbett, a Republican, slow-walked the investigation of a longtime football coach at the center of the scandal while campaigning for governor.

Lot's of karma going down.

I honestly doubt Tom Corbett had anything to do with this.

Cops can be tempted out of the blue, and they can give in.
Looks like this cop saw a big wad of cash, and wanted it.

Tom Corbett is an asshole.
He is a GOP politician, after all.

But I think even he is royally pissed off at his son-in-law.
