3.9 tons of marijuana confiscated by Texas Highway Patrol
Source: Yahoo News
For highway patrol officers, there's no such thing as a routine traffic stop. That adage was again proven true when a Texas Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a gas tanker to perform a routine visual inspection and discovered the tanker was carrying 3.9 tons of marijuana. It's unclear how the trooper was able to make the discovery. In a news release, the Texas Department of Public Safety estimated the value of the confiscated pot at around $3.4 million. The truck driver was arrested and charged with possession. He's being held on $1 million bond. According to DPS spokesperson Sgt. Johnny Hernandez, more arrests may be forthcoming. Hernandez told NBC News that the bust was "a big, significant seizure" and among the largest in recent memory. Earlier this year, federal law enforcement seized more than 14,000 pounds of marijuana along the Arizona-Mexico border. The estimated street value of the drugs was between $7 million and $12 million, according to News 4 Tucson. 7. Yeah.
That's not something that needs to be posted on a public board, ya think? It will be someone's good reason to stop medicinal marijuana for those who really need it.

13. I'm sure there's still a market for the weed represented by this bust.
I'm more than sure. There aren't enough tankers in the world to transport all the pot there is a market for, if only it wasn't still so dangerous to be in possession of any of it. States that have "privatized prisons" are still happy to bust as many end users as they can find.
This tanker might feed the prison gluttons two or three transporters, but it's the thousands and thousands of end users that really keep the prison fat cats happy. As for medicinal taking the place of mexican weed, of course there is some slipping out. But weed still comes in from Mexico, through Canada, Florida....and is grown all over the globe to supply the HUGE market in the USA. A great deal of Mexican weed is sprayed/cut with other recreational chemicals to make it more marketable. |

12. Most people I know have their cards- for all the good that does
They either have their medical card or their grower card. Personally I think having your card just lets the authorities know who is growing or using. ![]() |

10. drizzle or dro or kush
or whatever the kids call it now isn't all it's cracked up to be.
sometimes a fat sack of some compressed bud can give you a better overall body high that seems to last longer than the $20 per scrumpling of the high end stuff. and it doesn't taste like it's been sprayed with meth or heroin either (what they call "loud" in chicago). don't get me wrong, i fart with joy when i see youngsters getting all goo goo with their novelty bud (sour diesel, pink assberry, etc.) and some of it is pretty good, but from a budgetary standpoint, getting a decent quantity of journeyman weed isn't so bad in the long run. |

Cannabis rudica is ditchweed grown from Mexico. Also the most common of the dealer's package.
Terrible quality. |

Except I'm a little afraid of the 3 Billion rounds of .40 cal Hollow Point just purchased by Homeland Security.
Homeland Security just purchased roughly 2,0o00 armored personnel carriers (tanks) to be deployed in the U.S. Why don't I feel all warm and fuzzy? But THANK GOD we got a ton of cheap Mexican weed off the street. |

27. The bill of lading and the trailer weight would be the prime indicator.
A large gasoline tanker can hold 9,000 gallons of gasoline at 6lbs a gallon, or 27 tons fully laden.
The truck would have been weighed at a weighing station somewhere along the line. Subtract the dry weight of the trailer and you have the cargo's weight. That truck would have to declare it was carrying 1,600 gallons of gasoline. Anything else indicates it's a different cargo. |
