CenturyLink experiencing nationwide Internet outage

Source: al.com

CenturyLink customers in south Alabama who are unable to access the Internet are not alone as an outage is affecting customers all across the U.S.

According to company comments on its Facebook page, "CenturyLink is currently experiencing a disruption in service. We are working to restore service as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We will continue to work towards resolution until all issues are resolved."

Reports on Facebook show that the outage has been felt in at least 21 states. A map on downdetector.com shows a wide area of outages across the country, from Florida to New York City to San Francisco.

This reminds me of the movie "Airplane 2."

Woman on plane: "The computer went bezerk and killed one of the crew! What should we do?"

Captain: "Hmmm.....better consult the computer!"

it's been up for the last few hours, though. Whatever the issue was (did the DU anti-heroes Anonymous get their chuckles hacking this morning?) it is resolved.

After waiting ten minutes for a tech, all she could tell me was it was a nationwide outage. Gee, thanks - why not put a recording on during the hold to that effect rather than forcing your customers to listen to all the messages about getting help for your connection problems over the internet?

I spent all day yesterday trying out my new printer's features - I LOVE duplexing!
