Immigration reform debate marred by angry clashes in US Senate

Angry scenes marred the first serious debate on immigration reform on Thursday as Senate Republicans and Democrats clashed over proposals to grant legal status to the 11 million undocumented migrants in the US.

Despite initial bipartisan support for the legislation, a number of Republicans attempted to delay implementation of an amnesty-like provision until authorities could prove they had fully secured the southern border with Mexico against further illegal entry.

Though defeated by Democrats, who form a majority on the Senate judiciary committee, the Republicans warned the issue would become a sticking point in the House of Representatives. "If we don't have real border security, in my view this bill will not pass," said Ted Cruz of Texas.

But this prompted an angry response from the bill's sponsors who accused opponents of using border security as an excuse to block any immigration reform.

but this is a serious issue. There are so many visas and guests worker plans hidden in the Immigration bill S744 that the big Tech Companies and other corporations can not wait for it to pass. Facebook's and Microsoft's Mark and Bill are waiting in the wings for it to become law so that they can bring in all the workers they want and get the cheaper labor they so desire. There have been reports demonstrating that we have the workers here but they have no wish to hire them because they cost more. Get real and look into the bill for all the reasons why we, the American public, must reject it. It is the same lies as before with the Immigration bill of 1986 which has been shown to be a complete failure and it to was packed with many lies including enforcement which never happened.

Wake up please !!!!

5. You are absolutely correct. Aside from the wage deflation that would happen with a glut of foreign

workers in tech fields, we have a real issue with security and patent/design theft from a few countries. Border security is an issue, but i'd love to see how many of them support expanding inspections leaving this country. Confiscating the cash hurts the cartels more, but there's a problem with gun smugglers get caught up in the seizures also (good thing). I'll bet money the nra opposes increased scrutiny at exit gates.
We have to look at what's good for the American people, and hope a fair compromise can be reached.
