READ: Full IG Report On IRS Targeting

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration on Tuesday released its report finding that the Internal Revenue Service "used inappropriate criteria that identified for review Tea Party and other organizations applying for tax-exempt status based upon their names or policy positions instead of indications of potential political campaign intervention."

(11,495 posts)Seems like there still is a lot of information that isn't getting reported. I have yet to see any major news site talk about "the others" who were not granted their tax exemption status.
Another thing I don't understand is that the guy in charge at the time was a republican appointee, Bush. Why haven't we seen the republicans targeting that guy? They want heads to roll, and people to be fired, yet this guy already stepped down. There are so many questions that still have not be asked, or answered! Just my opinion.

(16,327 posts)the IG investigation it appears that it was as I suspected -- there was a huge increase in groups applying for 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status once Obama got into office, many who were going to engage in political activity. That is a serious red light for the IRS, period. I find it interesting the IG did not look at other groups that may have been targeted by the IRS -- that is something I would very much like to know.
