House Republicans will again try to repeal Obamacare
Source: Salon
This time around, House Republicans are fueled by the IRS scandal, because of the agencys role in distributing funds from the law. The Washington Post reports:
Half of the billion dollars allocated to cover implementation of the Affordable Care Act went to the IRS. Starting in 2014, the agency will distribute subsidies for health-care coverage through state exchanges and issue penalties against individuals who do not get or businesses that do nor provide insurance.
The Post puts the count of repeal attempts at 36, with today marking the 37th, though the number is somewhat debatable because many of the attempts were not full floor votes. The Post has details on each attempt [link:http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/05/15/voting-to-repeal-over-and-over/here].

Not only did the Supreme Court rule it Constitutional,
but the DEMOCRATS WON IN 2012
yet the meekness of the Democrats on everything is pathetic

This of course assuming said Democrats aren't in agreement with the Republican standpoint...

(14,400 posts)I suppose they could throw a fit on the floor, walk out, refuse to vote, pretty much take up even more time than this is going to take anyway.
Every Democrat that is interviewed talks about the waste of time and effort this is. Harry Reid accused the House Republicans of having a mental disorder because of this.
You toss the term meekness around pretty easily. You should at least list off what you think they should do to not be so "pathetic".
They can't stop the vote, they can't win the vote all they can do is go on record saying that the vote is a total waste of time which is exactly what every last one of them has done.

(92,116 posts)view I look at both sides.
When republicans are interviewed they show outrage. In general, when Democrats are interviewed they don't have that passion
In 2008, the Democrats ran away from ACA, even though they voted for it. That does not inspire confidence. When backass(baucus) starts trashing the ACA he help crafted, we have problems.
I heard this the other day and it is true. The republicans don't have brains, and the Democrats don't have balls

(3,003 posts)Rethug losers are still fighting yesterday's battle. No wonder they can never move forward.
All they're doing is preparing for the 2014 midterms...they hope that next year will be totally chaotic since it'll be the first year the law will be fully in effect and they have laid as many roadblocks as possible to make the transition as difficult as possible. Then they can say, "See? We told you this would be a disaster. I mean, we've tried and tried to repeal this horrible law but the Senate Democrats have refused. So give us control of the Senate and then we'll repeal this bad law!"
We must be ready with a counterattack if chaos does occur. We must point out how smoothly the implementation is going in states which have set up exchanges as opposed to those states which have refused to do so (all of which are controlled by the Republicans). No playing the fiddle while the city burns....we CANNOT allow these assholes to get the upper hand in this or they will do to us in 2014 will be a repeat of 2010.
