Rep Cohen D-TN confronts AG Holder on Don Siegelman's case

Last edited Fri May 17, 2013, 06:47 PM - Edit history (2)

Source: C-SPAN

During questions on the troubling matters of the Administration's Department of Justice Program; Representive Cohen from Tenn. queried Eric Holder about the Governor Siegelman case.

This is excerpt/transcribe of the video discussion.

00:02:15 I WOULD LIKE TO QUELL YOU ABOUT A FEW ISSUES THAT BOTHER ME.
[br]
00:02:18 THE FORMER ALABAMA GOVERNOR DON SIEGELMAN WHO WAS THE GOVERNOR OF ALABAMA AND PROBABLY THE LAST DEMOCRAT STATEWIDE OFFICIAL THERE IN THE PAST AND MAYBE IN THE FUTURE FOR A LONG TIME.
[br]
00:02:30 HE TRIED TO GET A LOTTERY IN HIS STATE WIT I DID IN TENNESSEE AND KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT IS.
[br]
00:02:35 IN SO DOING, HE FOUND HIMSELF IN COURT AND CONVICTED IN A JAIL AND A CASE IN WHICH AN UNPRECEDENTED 113 FORMER ATTORNEYS GENERALS, REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRAT REPRESENTING 44 OF THE 55 STATES HAVE SAID HIS PROSECUTION WAS A GRAVE INJUSTICE.
[br]
00:02:54 JUST A NUMEROUS AMOUNT OF LEGAL EXPERTS HAVE SAID IT WAS A GRAVE INJUSTICE AND THAT THE PROSECUTION SHOULD NEVER HAVE TAKEN PLACE BECAUSE THE U.
[br]
00:03:02 S. ATTORNEY, A BUSH APPOINTEE, WAS THE WIFE OF THE CAMPAIGN MANAGER OF HIS OPPONENT IN A JUBORIAL ELECTION AND THAT WHILE WE RECUE RECUED HERSELF, SHE STAYED INVOLVED.
[br]
00:03:15 I KNOW THERE ARE PROCEDURAL ISSUES ABOUT A MUCH CUE MISSIONTATION.
[br]
00:03:21 EACH DAY HE'S IN PRISON IN MY OPINION IS A GRAVE INJUSTICE.

For those of you who haven't been following the Governor Siegelman case; he was RailRoaded by Karl Rove and Alabama U.S. Attorney Canary. I'm still too new to DU - and have no idea how to "embed" the video. Please go to this link ( http://www.c-spanvideo.org/clip/4451382 ) at the C-SPAN website (which also transcribes the conversation).
f
The Petition, by his daughter, requesting President Obama give a Pardon to Governor Siegelman is linked ( HERE ).

Governor Siegelman's daughter is the lead advocate for her dad's release with a FaceBook page ( HERE ).

Civil Rights leader Rev. Shuttlesworth = who was companion to Martin Luther King Jr /Rosa Parks - supports the quest to free Governor Siegelman. The Reverend held Governor Siegelman's wife hand in court (see more details - HERE ).
[hr]

GWB and Karl Rove WIN - as long as Governor Siegelman is incarcerated unrighteously.

This injustice and abuse of power - is INTOLERABLE!

This is one injustice we should not stand idle by and allow to transpire. It only serves GWB and Rove. For that reason alone, we should rally the troops together and demand freedom for Governor Siegelman.

Just think of the good this man will do for U.S. - upon his proper - long overdue - Release?

If you haven't already done so - Please sign the Petition ( HERE ) and help others do the same;
Governor Siegelman's release is a knife in GWB and Rove's ebol heart!

NOTE: If someone could please instruct me in the comments section - how to embed the video - I'd appreciate it!

This is a letter from our FB Friend on the Governor Siegelman Page

Thanking Representative Cohen.

Wrote a letter to Congressman Cohen, thanking him for his questioning Eric Holder on Governor Siegelman's case. I'd like to see the Backbone Campaign give him a Backbone Award! He certainly deserves one!

Congressman Steve Cohen
Tennessee, 9th District
2404 Rayburn HOB
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Congressman Cohen,

By asking Attorney General Eric Holder about the Governor Don Siegelman case, and kindly requesting that he take action on this long overdue issue, you have become a hero to many Americans.

It is an atrocity that this case was ever tried in the first place, but that it could have gone as far as it has, with so much glaring truth to the criminality being committed by the prosecutors, the judge and the nefarious Karl Rove and Bill Canary, should be a stark revelation to anyone as to how far off course our justice system has strayed.

Those people are only part of the list who should be investigated when our leaders take a serious look at this case. When this happens America will see how our justice system has been used to destroy innocent lives and pad the power and pockets of countless people with malevolent intent.

Congressman Cohen, I hope this will be your first step in embarking on a path to justice for Gov. Siegelman. Nothing can be done to give back this last decade they have taken from him, but something must be done to give him back the rest of his life.

I hope you will ask your colleagues to join you in extending your request to President Obama. It is time for him to do what he must to end this miscarriage of justice.

Thank you so much for asking Attorney General Holder, but please don’t let that fall by the wayside, as it has been an impossible climb to get the attention of the Attorney General and the President in this matter. I believe Mr. Holder’s answer to you completely dodged all responsibility. He has been dodging it as long as he has been in office and it is time for that to end.

As President Obama has the power to grant a pardon for Gov. Siegelman, it is time for the Justice Department to step back and let the President do the right thing.

Tell us what we can do to help you to put your request front and center so that the unjustly imprisoned Governor will be free and justice can begin to be restored.

I will write my representative, Congresswoman Terri Sewell to ask that she stand with you in this request.

Sincerely,

Sharron Williams
Birmingham, AL

There seems to be a lot of "disgraceful" going around lately.

I've read quite a bit about this case and my thoughts are simple; malicious prosecution based on absolute fraud. Gov. Siegelman should never have gone through this and the people responsible are, so far, free and clear. Why? And why hasn't AG extraordinaire, Eric Holder, done anything about this? Why won't President Obama address this and pardon this man? I guess someone else actually does give the orders. They must have been very afraid that Gov. Siegleman would have run for president (and most likely would have won) and would have been a very good one. This isn't just sad, its sick.

You become POTUS - you have a million decisions to make.

Who gets what position - when, then, next etc.

Your advisors inform you - whom you owe - and, as POTUS, you check-n-balance as best you can.

It should always be country 1st - over party - and a JFK POTUS that isn't afraid to admit mistakes.

NOBODY - is Perfect.

It takes having mistakes;
to LEARN from them!

But you do desire to have as little mistakes as possible;

over the Siegelman case.

Judge Fuller had ties to big oil (made hundreds of millions).

When Ted Stevens plane went down - you will never guess who was on it (and survived).

The Stevens case was all about the oil (Rothschild's) getting our military fuel contract away from Boeing ($35 billion a year)

Senator McBain (McCain) made a deal to allow Airbus to have an American sub corp in AlaBAMeeee

O'Keefe and his son - who were part of that deal - were on the plane when Senator Stevens died

Coincidently - they both survived.....

Judge Fuller has contracts with the FBI and caused FBI agents to be in the courtroom during Siegelman's case.

Fuller also makes money out of Big OIL.

Being that Senator Stevens went down in a plane crash - where O'Keefe (the Alabama head of Rothschild's EADS entity) survived. Compounded by all the other evidence;

and you can see that power plays here are extraordinary and

Fri May 17, 2013, 05:45 PM
May 2013

Secondly; here's a link to a long ago DU thread on Judge Fuller (guy over Siegelman case)
He is a Rove buddy with FBI contracts and ties to Big OIL (that wanted Governor Siegelman out of their way).

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022073759

Dana Jill Simpson (not the daughter of the Governor) - was a Republican attorney who worked for the Republican issues down an was part of conversations with Rove and of Rove on destroying Governor Siegelman.

Judge Fuller was assigned over the Siegelman case.

Senator Ted Stevens incarceration and ultimate demise was about OIL - the $35 Billion annual contract Boeing gets to service our military world wide. Senator Stevens was involved with Jack Abramoff's self professed partner (Johann Hamerski from Alaska) - in the infamous (miracalous) "Bridge to NoWhere" (also a road to nowhere slipped in the budget AFTER it was sealed and voted on - for Florida????)

Judge Fuller owns OIL contracts involved.

McCain, in conjunction with Rove - had a deal made with Rothschild (even illegally so when McCain was running for POTUS)
So that Rothschild Airbus could "circumvent" the legal issues preventing foreign parties from bidding on the OIL contracts, McCain arranged an "exemption" and Airbus was permitted (and did actually win the bid one year) - to have a subsidiary company in the U.S. - to take the contract away from Boeing to a company titled EADS managed by O'Keefe who was with NASA also. O'Keefe is a long time buddy and worker for Dick Cheney. Who was on the plane with a son and Senator Stevens.

Senator Stevens and 3 others died - BUT O'Keefe and his son "survived".

The Senator, unlike Governor Siegelman - was able to get released. The Special Prosecutor (hand picked by Rove) to prosecute Senator Stevens was going to be before Washington D.C. hearings on the whole affair; then he purportedly commits suicide.

Jill Simpson house was burned down and her car run off the road.

Dana Jill Simpson and the Legal Schnauzer have been active involved in the issues of getting Governor Siegelman released.

U.S. Attorney Canary, along with Jill Simpson, were ordered to destroy Governor Siegelman.

Canary's husband ran Republican issues in Alabama - including the competing GOP Gov man running against Siegelman.

It is all so Machivellian.....

LINK to the Stevens crash report http://www.adn.com/2010/08/10/1403280/five-believed-dead-in-crash-of.html

I get a phone call telling me that "you should have taken the deal - people who chase ghosts become one - your daughter is 1st - your son will be next".

Twice, I had to go to the hospital and wait for hours, to see if the dead girl matching my daughter's description was there.

Since then, several suicides, purported suicides, homicides and an obvious murder transpired.

I'm not sure what to say. You are truly going through the test of maintaining composure and
some assemblance of daily life.

I hope you can get through this living hell quickly by getting your daughter back safe.

her was caught (they were planning to sell her in Baja).

The crooked DA actually held her in juvy - when I demanded to have a session with the career criminal abductor.

My only goal now, is to bring Romney & his RICO Gang to justice;
and get back what they stole (my children's inheritance).

Good luck!

The hubris of Romney and his ilk, to run him for POTUS;
may have saved my life and finally bring U.S. justice in the cases.

Big things are in the works - I'm doing 2 GD threads today.

One will be titled Romney --- - and will chronicle how massive the stench (and evidence trails) - really are.

At the barest of mimimums (because I suspect that President Obama would have to prudently commute such);
Romney may not go to jail - but he will have to return what he/his stole.

And several of his Gang - will here that heart wrenching "clank"
when the steel doors shut upon them.

one of the guy's (upon information and belief) that was involved;
once sat a desk only 10 feet away from me in the same building.

His name is Larry (Reservitz) Reynolds.

He is now serving 10 years; but the guy in between has gotten away Scot Free (jury still out on IF he knew).

The reason for "Reservitz" moniker - is THAT is his REAL name.

Larry Reservitz Reynolds laundered $12 Billion for the Petters Ponzi
while under investigation by IRS, SEC & FDIC

AND

In WISTEC (the Witness Protection Program)

James Traficant, Senator Ted Stevens, Rick Convertino.

All people who said - Publicly - what they were thinking and were gaining powerful followings; and paid a dear price.

Convertino is in high demand; because he beat them.

We must make sure that they autocrats neither quash, silence nor see to the demise;
of Governor Siegelman.

To tyranny, cronyism and corruption massive;
it takes much muster to counter.

I know much more about the personal side of Obama than you (or even he) would care that I know.

It would enrage you - to see the whole truth.

Be that as it may - Barack Obama has done much good.

Can he do more, of course he can. But he's just a man. JUST 1 Man!

It is up to U.S. to cajole him from his massive daily duties and responsibilities, into case specifics we find noteworthy. Even on this very day, the Fox, Ruppert Murdoch and Bain Capital Clear Channel Communication has undue influence over 200 million listeners with babbling banter B.S. massive. Our POTUS is compelled to respond to their obfuscating hyperbole;
because WE fail to stop the B.S. in its tracks. We are simply too damn busy making ends meet.

President Obama is trying to make ends meet for 300 million of U.S.!

I'm homeless, jobless, lost family, career, friends and my grandchildrens inheritance (I have 7 grandchildren whom I've never held and have not seen since October 31, 2004 - when my enemies kidnapped my daughter).

Yet, I'm here, working on Sampson's case, Congressman Conyers, Governor Siegelman's, and espionage/ pedophiles at Univ of Michigan - and more.

Because - someone has to be the troops for our Commander and Chief.

Help me - help you - help Governor Siegelman get free;
and then lets enjoy a Salute to what we did together - helping the POTUS see the light!

Please?

Fight the right on every issue - just like they do him. The answer to our problem is for him, and his people, and our tiny media presence - to get the 67 million people who voted (D) in 2008 back to the polls next year. Be the president that he campaigned as - pro-union, pro-teacher, pro-health care. Simple put anti-Republican. He has millions of troops at his command, but they need some leadership which he is not providing.

See you at the next SE MI DU meet-up

Politico's are "compromisers" by nature.

We are getting supp from President Obama - for various rights issues- and should be HIGHLY grateful/thankful.

Whether we like to admit it or not - a POTUS is not the ultimate power - just one of "the" most powerful.

It would serve no good purpose to have him go the way of JFK; because he forced issues against (Slave owner) strong wills.

We can defeat the current version of the Republican party - permanently - over time.

It is (guerilla) civil warfare.
