Republicans Informed of IRS Investigation Last Year
Source: ABC NEWS
Much has been made of the fact that senior Treasury Department officials were told about the investigation into the treatment of tea party groups in June 2012 months before last years the Presidential election. Republicans who requested the investigation were also told about it at approximately the same time.
In a letter dated July 11, 2012, the man who conducted the investigation IRS inspector general J. Russell George wrote to Rep. Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, telling him that he was investigating the issue and offering to keep him updated as the investigation progressed.
The Oversight Committee knew about the audit because it requested it, an Issa aide told ABC News. Issa released the letter, along with his own letter dated June 28, 2012 requesting the investigation, last week.

(25,111 posts)but the GOPers as usual played VICTIM and on cue cried foul all along knowing of this prior to last week. What a bunch of fake assholes but their misinformed base will still eat the "scandal" up. I saw some of the questions directed at Miller from GOPers, such a display of dishonestly. Oh wait, GOP party of no are in your face dishonest.

(158 posts)This seems to be the GOP Rethugs modus operandi, to ask for and cause the initiation of some form or type of an investigation, wait a while (when they think everyone memory has lapsed), then cry foul. WTF. Are these people that dense not to think that there are news articles or videos or some form or type of records still out, contrary to the facts of the "scandals" they claim. These people are a bunch of Dumb-Asses!!

(47,992 posts)was happening in the first place, which raises the question: What, exactly, really did trigger this reaction.
Apparently, Miller wasn't doing it the way that Issa wanted it done.

(35,300 posts)They didn't get upset at the investigation. They didn't like how the investigation was run.
Moreover, they actually waited for the report.
How novel and strange--not prejudging and assuming that if there's an investigation, the worst possible things must be true. And complaining about process during the process as opposed to complaining about the lack of consequences before the process is fully under way.
Veddy strange.

(666 posts)The gop is nothing but a bunch of lying assholes. They knew the investigation was going on and said nothing speaks volumes, if they would have brought this out it would have made the election so much closer, but I think that they did not really want oh Mittens in their in the first place, still a bunch of lying assholes.

(158 posts)it may have open that pandora box about 501(c)4's and all of the dark money that they were essentially using to influence the political progress, didn't want to start that conversation, yet.
As far as thinking that they didn't really want Mittens in the first place, remember that Norquist said that all they need in the White House was someone with a pen in hand to sign off for all of the right-wing agenda, heck as far these people were concerned, Herman Cain would have fit the bill, as long as he signed any and all right-wing legislation that the House passed, good enough for them.
