Brian Schweitzer Named Chairman Of Mining Company
Source: TPM
Former Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D) on Monday was elected chairman of the board for the Stillwater Mining Company.
In a statement put out by the company, which is based in Billings, Mont., Schweitzer said that he's "honored to have the privilege of working with this new Board of Directors, which includes individuals with long experience and diverse perspectives on the mining industry."
Schweitzer has been pegged as the likely Democratic nominee in Montana's 2014 U.S. Senate race to replace the retiring Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT). The popular ex-governor acknowledged last month that he isn't ruling out a bid in the open Senate contest.

(31,935 posts)The Board would obviously have asked him about his intentions. If he was running they would not have put him in as Chairman. No company wants a Chairman that is only going to be around for a few months.

(12,804 posts)He can probably wait til end of next year to run.
Schweitzer is not a wealthy man. Him taking this job is to help feed his family.
It's a long wait til he has to make a decision to run, in the meantime, he needs to provide for his family.
