GOP Senator To IRS Chief (Miller): You Lie

Source: TPM

At a hearing Tuesday, Senate Finance Ranking Member Orrin Hatch (R-UT) went after Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller for failing to recognize or admit that it had targeted conservative groups back when Republicans sent them letters asking as much last year.

"That's a lie by omission," Hatch said. "There's no question about that in my mind. It's a lie by omission. ... Why did you mislead me and my colleagues?"

"Mr. Hatch, I did not lie," Miller responded.

"Frankly," Miller said, "the concept of political motivation here -- I did not agree with that in May. I do not agree with that now. We were not politically motivated in targeting conservative groups."

Asshole.

This clown had the balls to wave around a copy of "Valley of the Dolls" during the Clarence Thomas / Anita Hill
hearings.

He has NO, ZIP, ZERO cred for anything.

But yet he continues to be a dick wad and embarrass America.

Asshole.

in the beginning. sorry, but there are ties to white millitia orgs, and ties to individuals accused of ripping off other tea party members (see houston tea party). Since this came out, it's hard to find the stories again, but congress isn't allowing them to expound on their answers. Just because the tea party was targeted doesn't mean the reason for it was political. Especially since they weren't applying for POLITICAL EXEMPTION. Also, the tea party claims to be non partisan. I'm sick of hearing the "conservative" label for the groups.

IRS "targeted" any applicant whose name contained words associated with political groups and their political activities. Those included BOTH conservative and progressive groups. They were taking the easiest route to weed out legitimate applicants from political groups trying to pass themselves off as something they truly were not. Criticize IRS staff members for taking the easy way but they were trying to be expedient not biased!
