Dutch court blocks extradition of terror suspect

Source: Assciated Press

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) -- Dutch judges have blocked the extradition of a terror suspect to the United States, saying he was tortured in Pakistan after his 2010 arrest and it is unclear whether American authorities had any involvement.

Tuesday's ruling by the Hague Court of Appeal is a significant victory for the man identified only as Sabir K. in his attempts to avoid being sent for trial in America, but Dutch authorities can still launch a final appeal to the country's Supreme Court.

Sabir K., who has Dutch and Pakistani nationality, was arrested in Pakistan in 2010 and expelled to the Netherlands in 2011. U.S. authorities accuse him of working with al-Qaida from 2004-2010.

He allegedly plotted a suicide attack on an American military base in Afghanistan.

Sometimes I wonder if there are Americans that think our brave defense workers deserve to be blown-up by poor, misunderstood extremist Muslim terrorists.
The amount of hatred exhibited towards America by those that side with Muslim Extremists is amazing. The fact that some of these fundamentalist muslim apologists have American citizenship is a direct result of paranoid conspiracy mongering and an un-checked willingness to believe America is responsible for all the evil in the world.
So- yaay! A guy that plotted to murder 100s of Americans is being protected from justice by the Dutch. What a happy, reasonable reaction.

Also, the proof of his alleged torture in Pakistan is uncorroborated.

We have used Egyptian, Moroccan, Syrian, Saudi, Afghan, Polish and Romanian prisons for torture but we didn't trust Pakistan enough to carry out torture there.

and it seems that he is accused of a plot, not of carrying it out. You thus have to ask how secure the evidence against him is, and whether any of it was obtained under torture.

I think the Dutch court's decision is more reasonable than flying off the handle at a DUer, accusing them of thinking "our brave defense workers deserve to be blown-up by poor, misunderstood extremist Muslim terrorists". By following that with "hatred exhibited towards America by those that side with Muslim Extremists", you look like a parody of a right winger - the moment someone says something you disagree with ,you ask "why do you hate America?"

"The fact that some of these fundamentalist muslim apologists have American citizenship is a direct result of paranoid conspiracy mongering" - what the fuck are you trying to say? How has American citizenship suddenly come into this? Are you tryign to make this into an immigration rant?

How many Muslims did we murder in Iraq and Afghanistan that hadn't actually done anything to anyone?

How many of our war criminals have we prosecuted?

Are we still holding innocent people in inhumane conditions because we can't be bothered to let them go?

I honestly hope that bit of bigoted jingoistic stupidity is the dumbest thing I'll see all day.

I'll take "fundamentalist muslim apologist" as a compliment when it comes from a screaming bigot.

at this one case microscopically but it needs to be placed in context with other things happening in the region concerning America. The U.S. Government is making a lot of enemies for this country because more and more people are beginning to just not trust this country's government.

While you concern yourself about this one case in the Netherlands they are arresting Dutch citizens being recruited by extremists groups to fight in Syria. The United States supports the opposition groups in Syria, that is also working with Al Qaeda.

There is a Syrian civilian that worked as a teacher for the University of Aleppo, being interviewed on Russian networks about the uprising in Aleppo which many of her friends and students were interested in being fed to the Russian Public. Her claims was that the protests were legitimate until many people realized that they were tricked and it was a pretext to cause unrest for Syria by the U.S. and Western Governments.

Her allegations are, that the protests were hijacked by extremists like Al Nusra and Al Qaeda groups backed by these Governments and their real aims was to destroy Hezbullah, Syria and Iran because they were against Israel. She also alleged it has more to do with American companies, that want a foothold in oil interests and the resources of that area. She is censored by the Western media and only the opposition get their side of the story out. You remember CurveBall? Another of her allegations were that these extremists killed Government troops and civilians to incite violence and unrest. Does that sound familiar with what is happening in Egypt?

I did some research on the Torture programs of the United States Intelligence agencies during the Bush Administration. In order to get around the Torture laws of the United States, our intelligence services under the Bush and Cheney Administration would kidnap expected Terrorists and send them to Syria because they had stricter torture techniques that were unlawful in this country. That was when the U.S. was fighting the Sunnis, Taliban and Al Qaeda.

Now the enemy are the so called Shia extremists and we are negotiating with the Taliban and helping Al Qaeda. We are also helping the Brother Muslimhood. We help create Al Qaeda when we were gainst the Russian invasion of Afghanistan.

You call this conspiracy theories and unfounded. It has nothing to do with the American people, but more to do with the American Goverment. That is why they are producng Snowden's and Mannings. People are losing trust in our own Government. The lies to get into Iraq is another big part of it. It is not just a big imagination that came out of thin air the way you want to believe. And do you really believe the story in Benghazi and what Ambassador Stevens was really doing there, along with the CIA? Put two and two together and connect the dots with secret weapons. Some of those extremiist groups that helped to overthrow Gaddaffi are now in Syria.

Part of the blame should also rest with the Netanyahu Likud Government of Israel. He does not give a dam about the interests of the American people or this country. The only interests he cares about is his precious Israel. The sooner American politicians get it through their stubborn thick heads, then they will worry more about the people of this country and its own prestige. Our country's interestes shouldn't be second or held hostage to any other country's interests, including Israel. Dual citizenships ought to be illegal. One of the Biggest cheer leaders for the overthrow of Saddam and invasion of Iraq was Netanyahu. It is just a continuation even though the Administrations has changed.
