US Plans for Syria Strikes at Odds With Peace Conference Idea – Moscow

Source: RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, July 24 (RIA Novosti) – The United States’ plans to conduct strikes on Syrian territory conflict with agreements between Moscow and Washington on the convocation of an international peace conference, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday.
\
“From all indications,” the United States is devising plans to attack the positions of Syrian government forces, which contravenes the idea of holding an international peace conference “without any preconditions,” he said.

On Monday, US lawmakers released an assessment by Martin Dempsey, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, stating that Washington could carry out a range of missions to back Syrian rebels in their fight against President Assad’s forces.

Moscow hopes to discuss the issue of chemical weapons at an international peace conference for Syria, Lavrov said, adding that Moscow was for a comprehensive investigation of all such instances.

manufacturers and dealers, as well as the contractor's who make huge bucks, need to keep the money spigots flowing.

How will Diane Feinstein and her hubby get by? Or John Kerry?

These figures are from 2006. Can you imagine what they've acquired since then?

Web Note: No wonder we can't end the war! Members of Congress have made $196 million in personal profit since the war began! Think how rich they'll get if the U.S. invades Iran -- that country is four times bigger.
Kevin Zeese, Voters for Peace

Member of Congress Minimum Value of Investment Maximum Value of Investment

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass) $28,872,067 $38,209,020

Includes investments in companies with DOD contracts of $5 million or more, according to 2006 data on FedSpending.org. Members of Congress must report their personal finances annually. Holdings shown here were as of December 31, 2006.

are included in the companies with contracts of $5 million or more.

In addition, many of these legislators have their stocks controlled in blind trusts - and the amounts here reflect a snapshot in time for the Senate disclosure. Some, like Kerry (Heinz, Forbes, and Winthrop) and Rockefeller (duh!) have assets that are their share of family trusts that they do not control.

And no sitting representative should be allowed to make a dime off of wars that they vote for.

'Blind' trusts are a joke. They know where they've invested their money.

And I notice you didn't say a word about Feinstein and her hubby.

The reason is that I do not know anything about their investments. The only thing I do know is that a few Senators' offices - including Kerry's responded in 2006. (In his case, trust funds that Teresa was a beneficiary, but not a trustee of, had holdings that counted - many as innocuous as J&J and Pepsi. At any rate, neither she or Kerry control anything. In addition, before he became SOS, they (and the funds) divested anything that could be impacted by him as SOS. )

The U.S. does not promote peace. Ask Latin America.

The U.S. does not believe in peace. Ask Vietnam.

The U.S. does not want peace. Ask Iraq and Afghanistan.

The U.S. is a warmongering country. Ask all the countries that we have harmed in the name of spreading 'democracy'.

The U.S. is an empire building country. Ask all the numerous countries that we have invaded, occupied, bombed, backed coups, used financial terrorism and sanctions against.

The U.S. is number one in weapons manufacturing.

The U.S. is number one in weapons exports.

The U.S. economy depends on war to keep its economy from collapsing.

The U.S. is controlled by war profiteers. Ask Dick Cheney and the Bush family.

The U.S. is controlled by corporations that promote war and war products. Ask GE, Boeing, Northrop, or Blackwater; aka XE or Academi, and Halliburton.

The U.S. is controlled by the MIC brass that spread propaganda and fear. Ask Colin Powell and all of the Senators and Congresspersons who continue to vote for military intervention and funding for the military.

The U.S. has no functioning government. Ask the citizens of the U.S.

The U.S. is a rogue nation that does not abide by international laws.

The U.S. is not a member of the International Criminal Court.

... so don't expect any rational response (or response at all) as it is just so much
easier to live in denial.

The only point anyone would be able & willing to argue would be your last one
as - unlike all of the others - it is purely subjective. The cheerleaders will be
happy to pounce on a simple difference of opinion as a distraction from having
to face up to the uncomfortable truth of the other items.

Demsey answered Senate inquiries that to do this would be costly and likely not work. To label it as "US plans" is wrong and is Russian propaganda.

are very well aware of how the game is played in the International arena of public opinion. The only people that will make the decision for intervention in Syria is the President and Congress who want to intervene.

The General is just a servant and adviser. Those who are itching to intervene don't like what he says. If they had a General Petraeus on the other hand, he would probably give them a more favorable report to intervene. The General can always be replaced by one they like. The Russians know that.

The people that want to intervene in Syria, will not stop with this report even if they have to create their own reports like when they attacked Iraq. Just take a look at the people that want to go into Syria. They are all the same people they got us into Iraq on false Intelligence reports. When they were on the campaign trail, they lied for political convenience about being fooled by the Bush Administration. If everything goes wrong they can always find a scapegoat. It will be President Obama, because indications are it will blow up in his face and his legacy will be this.

The bottomline is Syria has Allies that Libya nor Iraq had. Obama is only President for three more years but intervening in Syria will cost thousands of lives and want end for years. Some groups that he wants to fight a War against are resistance groups. They are fighting for a cause. When someone fight for a cause, you are just not going to beat them into submission.

In a recent report, by the Western media from an anonymous U.S. source, it was report Israel struck a building in lakatia containing advanced Russian missiles. Israel denied being involved. The rebels claimed it was Israel.

The Syrian side finally made a statement that Israel was involved in a fourth strike but it didn't go as Israel planned. The Syrian military claims they were tipped off and no missiles were in those locations. They made the claim that the rebel leader who was killed was really a spy for Israel. What the Syrian military claims is that an Israeli F16 that Israel claimed crashed in the sea was really shot down by them and Israel grounded their planes after that. They claimed their radar air defense system picked them up. They also made the claim that Israel took other casualties in that raid also and that is why Israel is being silent.

If the Syrian side is telling the truth, than that is significant. That means the American Air Force want have an easy time establishing a No Fly Zone over Syria and there will be casualties. They have a sophisticated Air defense that has probably became more sophisticated.

The US would never do this against a stronger country, like China or Russia.

you can get away with all sorts of crap against weaker animals.

Syria has only 22 million people.
