Iowa: Tornado Causes ‘Major Damage’ in Quimby; Sirens in Cherokee

A large tornado tore through parts of Quimby, Iowa in Cherokee County on Friday night, according to reports.
The National Weather Service reported there was major damage done by the tornado. It estimated that businesses and homes could be destroyed in the twister.
KCAU-TV, via Twitter, described the tornado as catastrophic and was between Quimby and Cherokee.
Trained tornado spotters also reported that there was a tornado on the ground in the city.
Severestudios, a storm-chasing organization, said the tornado is large and violent.

(24,288 posts)about an hour up the road... They are still sheltering in Cherokee.. Macy got hit.. A mile wide tornado went by Sloan.. it has been a long evening..
