GOP gov candidate Donnelly warns Jerry Brown that conservatives may ramp up recall over gun rights

Source: San Francisco Chronicle

Full title, truncated above for space: GOP gov candidate Tim Donnelly warns Jerry Brown that conservatives may ramp up recall over gun rights

Conservative Southern California Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, a Tea Party favorite and former Minuteman, kicked off his campaign for governor at the state GOP convention Saturday, warning that Democratic Governor Jerry Brown may face recall “if he wants to erase the Second Amendment” by signing tougher gun laws.

Referencing recent recalls in Colorado in which the National Rifle Association weighed in on gun rights, Donnelly said, “those winds can cross the Rockies, and recalls can happen here.” And if Brown wants to “deprive” Californians of their rights to carry firearms, “then he will pay the price at the ballot box,” he warned, as conservative backers cheered.

... Donnelly told reporters he is “in it to win it” until the very end. Among the issues facing California, he said, is the “incredible push for socialism,” and taxes which he said are “going to be the number one issue in this race.”

... The former Minuteman said he could appeal to Hispanic voters. “I talk to everyone as an American,” he said. “I don’t think that because you have a different last name, you have a different view on the issues.”

They prefer a dictatorship of the wealthy oligarchs.

Elections, political bargaining, compromises, all get in the way of their absolute power.

It rankles them that people who are not rich and successful should get in the way of their wishes.

Last I checked, California is in a budgetary surplus BECAUSE Jerry Brown raised taxes, and I am quite certain Brown will remind the voters of that the second this teabagger starts screaming about how terrible tax increases are.

The voters of California did. It was on the ballot. Brown kept a campaign promise to not raise taxes unless the voters approved it.

Taxes went up, so in the GOP's eyes Jerry Brown raised the taxes. Never mind what that tax increase DID, it happened and that's that.

Next time a Republican wants to run the nation's finances like a family does theirs, ask them to show you three families that solved a financial crisis by asking for a pay cut. They might be able to come up with one, but they will never get two.

Don't hold your breath that it will work again.

Darryl Issa put a whole shitload of money into the last recall because he really really wanted to be governor. Poor fool was in tears when it didn't work out for him. There were over 200 names on the ballot. Everyone with an entry fee from Gary Coleman to some porn star got their name on it.

We got an action hero movie star.

We do have fun here but be forewarned, it may not go the way you'd like. We're not all second amendment purists and more than just the tea bangers will turn out to vote.

Pretty much unlimited billions w/ the secret PAC Corp. donors and thousands of political 'charities'. They will use paid sig collectors, paid staff and paid employees. No republicans work for free.

Target the corruption in those political 'charities'. The Justice dept. and the IRS don't look kindly on frauds. Both have easy tip lines. They should be investigated constantly.

Jerry Brown will face a recall election over gun rights. He has turned around California's economy after it was destroyed by Republicans and people here know it. It isn't perfect and it doesn't make everyone happy, but it is on the mend. And with super-majorities in both houses and a decided lack of fringe right-wing fervor in this state, recalling Jerry Brown is as likely as Limbaugh losing weight and dancing on Glee.

I read there is such a small percentage of republicans in the state of California that the RNC was worried about hanging on to any of the district seats in the long term. I read that somewhere not too long ago.

I considered moving to California for that reason alone.
