GOP Rep: 'We’re Going To Start This All Over Again'

Source: TPM

TOM KLUDT – OCTOBER 17, 2013, 7:20 AM EDT

As Congress looked to end the budget and debt crises – at least for now — a Republican congressman offered an ominous outlook on Wednesday.

Pledging to vote against the plan to re-open the government until Jan. 15 and raise the debt ceiling until at least Feb. 7, Rep. John C. Fleming (R-LA) indicated that he's already looking toward the next showdown.

“I’ll vote against it,” Fleming said, as quoted by the New York Times. “But that will get us into Round 2. See, we’re going to start this all over again.”

Fleming was one of 144 House members — all Republicans — who voted against the deal that passed both houses of Congress on Wednesday. On Tuesday, he told reporters that Republicans wanted to use the looming debt limit deadline as leverage.

This reminds me of my one and only fight I got into when I was in Middle School.

This girl grabbed both my arms and dugg her nails into me. I grabbed her by her elbows and spun her around and threw her across the Gym.

She bounced 3 times

She got up with tears in her eyes and proclaimed, "I'm gonna kick your ass now!"

I calmly stood there and responded, " I just threw you, you can't hurt me"

So to bring this around to the our Current situation. The Republican party just got tossed acrossed the room, bounced and now they are jumping up making bold statements with tears in their eyes to save face.

Please, oh please do just that, you stupid, cracker bitch. We'd love to see you hillbillies make asses of yourselves again next year.

It will, of course, be an election year in which all House members must run for reelection, but don't let that stop you. Go ahead and vote to default on the nation's debt again, just like the big, bad Conservative horse's ass you clearly are.

What they should have learned from the most recent drama is that the Democratically-controlled Senate and the White House are not going to negotiate away the ACA or accept any other extreme measures, period.

So it will end the same way in 2014 as it ended now. His opportunity to make changes in the budget is to lobby the House representatives that will go to conference with the Senate.

The GOP can forget repealing the ACA. They have tried 40+ times at a cost of $55M while knowing the Senate would not take up the bill and the President would veto with no chance of a 2/3 majority override.

If they want to introduce changes to improve the ACA that is fair game but must know that some basic principles are not open for discussion. Those include the individual mandate, the mandatory minimum patient care requirement, the provisions related to annual or lifetime caps, pre-existing conditions and adult children coverage to age 26.

The deal to reopen government and extend the debt ceiling has been struck, and the Senate is about to vote. There will be two votes, the first on cloture and the second on passage of the deal itself. Here's some of what's in it:

An increase in the debt ceiling until Feb. 7, but it also continues the ability of the Treasury to use extraordinary measures to extend that period, so that's not a drop dead date. It also includes language allowing President Obama to waive the debt ceiling, which could be overridden by a vote of disapproval by Congress that could then be vetoed by the president;

I am really interested in that. And, there seems to be conflicting stories on this as is wont to happen.

Got it! Thanks!

My former dog had a severe barking problem and he was driving me and the neighbors nuts. So, reluctantly and with great pain in my heart, I got him a shocking collar. Every time he barked, he would get a tiny jolt which automatically increased in severity if he barked again within a minute. After about 2 weeks, I didn't need the electric collar any more.

I feel like ordering 144 of them .... although my dog was smarter and a quick learner.

They were out-voted, I can't see Boehner going back to the Hastert rule anymore, therefore giving the tea people no clout. I heard that the next round will be pretty much after the primaries for 2014, so there will be no threat to the more normal repubs. So I don't think the tea people have anything to hold sway...they're losers.
