Report: Special Prosecutor Looking At Wisconsin Recall Elections
Source: Talking Points Memo
The Journal Sentinel reported on Monday that the probe grew out of leads discovered during an earlier investigation of aides who served Gov. Scott Walker (R) during his time as Milwaukee County executive. That case ended with six people convicted on criminal charges.
The current probe was initiated by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office, but now involves multiple counties. Francis Schmitz, a former assistant U.S. attorney who was once considered by President George W. Bush for the post of U.S. attorney for the eastern district of Wisconsin, is now leading the case as a special prosecutor, according to the Journal Sentinel.
"It's now spread to at least five counties," a source told the paper. The same source said that Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf had been investigating "all over the place."
The case apparently opened in February 2012. And according to the Journal Sentinel, the investigation is looking at a number of issues, including the recall races, a current legislative leader, and the 2012 gubernatorial recall contest between Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.

In the Wisconsin recall it was that voters were upset by the recall election.

The heavy turn outs in both Madison and Milwaukee should have made the
recall vote much closer or in favor of Barrett.

Wisconsin: None dare call it vote rigging
by Bob Fitrakis
If vote-rigging prospers, none may call it vote-rigging. It simply becomes the new norm. Once again, the universal laws of statistics apply only outside U.S. borders. The recall vote in Wisconsin produced another significant 7% discrepancy between the unadjusted exit poll and the so-called "recorded vote." In actual social science, this level of discrepancy, with the results being so far outside the expected margin of error would not be accepted.

(5,610 posts)happened to the bookies in Vegas, they would discover why very quickly.
Even though many repubs (especially Koch R's) do not believe in science, doesn't mean that the proven laws of probabilities are false.
Just like in the "W" selection, it just means that they cheated their asses off.
America sends "poll watchers" all over the world and they know when an election is rigged but when it happens in our own back yard....there was wrong exit "polling"....

(7,887 posts)I can believe Walker cheated in the recall election. I though him speanding as much as he did of the Koch's money was cheating in it's own way, but is there solid evidence in these charts?

I won't be surprised to see this kicked around without result until it's too late to correct the next elections, either, because that is also an important part of the process.

I hate smarmy.

(2,367 posts)Walker has a lot of flunkies to fall on their swords for him and he will surely revert to his: "I don't recall" / "I don't know" routine.
Plus taking down a sitting governor requires an immense amount of evidence.
Plus he closed his legal defense fund in the first John Doe, though I suppose he could open another one.

The Other Shoe Drops for Scott Walker. Another John Doe Probe Revealed and It's Statewide!

A former top-level assistant U.S. attorney has been appointed a special prosecutor in a burgeoning, secret investigation into a wide variety of state issues, including possible campaign violations during the recent recall elections, multiple sources said.
Francis Schmitz who spent nearly 30 years as a federal prosecutor and was once a finalist for U.S. attorney in Milwaukee is leading the widespread John Doe probe, according to sources.
Overseeing the case is Kenosha County Circuit Judge Barbara A. Kluka, who has been used by Milwaukee County judicial officials in past John Doe cases.
This is the type of news that normally dumps out late on Friday, but here it is first thing on Monday. Better yet, this probe was going on BEFORE the Milwaukee County John Doe Probe closed after the conviction of Kelly Reindfleisch, the former top aide to County Executive Scott Walker and 6th associate of his to be charged and convicted.
Bruce Landsgraf handled most of the Milwaukee County John Doe cases and ended the case against Reindfleisch with recitation of a litany of wrongdoings in the Milwaukee County Executives office. That long list led many of us to suspect additional charges and more revelations in the near future ..........
